Will this mean the old Grande Punto can be picked up at bargain prices for those not bothered about the new model.

Sucks that they are dropping the GP model range. What about those of us that want a firmer suspension, bigger brakes, etc, but not the bigger engines?

Auto Express have also done a review....
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/firstdrives/242935/fiat_punto_evo.html

I find most of these "car reviews" biased, especially WhatCar. If its not a Ford or a VW the car is basically crap. For example WhatCar says the new Fiesta isnt as spacious as a Honda Jazz nor as reliable yet because it "drives great" it gets 5 stars and the Jazz gets 3  rediculous. sorry rant over :(

"The 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel with 93bhp is expected to be the biggest seller. Without doubt it's the engine that best suits the Punto Evo, offering smooth, reasonably quiet and fuss-free progress. It's not massively quick though - 0-60mph takes 13.6 seconds and top speed is an unremarkable 102mph."

is this new car alot heavier. thats the same specs as my 1.3 multijet 75hp 0-60 and top speed

I thought the bit about it being quieter was encouraging. Like the Bravo the Punto roars on our third world roads.

Look OK to me; I especially like the bigger dashboard dials.

I'll let you know in about 3 to 4 years (if and when I get another Punto) whether that comment stands the test of time!

did you read the second review:confused:

The Evo will be offered alongside the current Grande Punto – which will have its model range and price tag cut back.

No as I have tended to lose faith in car magazine reviews.

Model range cut back : (
Price Cut Back : )

Wonder who will get first blood on modding an Evo?

"The Punto Evo will cost the same, model for model, as the outgoing Grande Punto, which starts at around £95,000 and extends to £13,500."

Really? lol

Hahaha...

Also, according to this review...

"Currently the Grande Punto is expected to lose 33% of its value after three years."

Have they been smoking crack? More likely it retains this amount over 3 years!

... is expected to lose 33% of its value after three years.
Good God! Even a Golf can't retain 50% of its value after 3 years!

According to VW themselves, a fleet-purchased Golf VI, with an on-the-road price today of £16324 will be worth £7000 - that's 42% of purchase price - in 3 years.

A Golf Plus, OTR today £18776 will only be worth £4,900 (26%) in 3 years.

Have a play: Volkswagen Fleet Prices Residual Values - quite an eye opener.
