Just wondered if anyone else had opted for the factory fitted alarm when they brought their GP?

I know it's a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm but just wondered if any one knew anything else about it as it doesn't come with any paperwork? I've got a little key pad thing in the top corner of my windscreen which is where the code goes to shut it off (although the dealers didn't provide me with one and still haven't managed to locate it yet!)

Wondered if there was a specific alarm that Fiat used or anything like that?

I'm thinking of upgrading it to a Clifford because if I can't find out how good it is then as far as i'm concerned it could just be utter ****e and can't be having that! :bang:

In the accessories brochure I got you can pay for an alarm through Fiat, must be that?

yeah that's the one. It was an optional extra that I ticked...but they supply you with no information on it and no1 else seems to have a clue either!

Are we talking about the meta alarm? If so you should of been given a red credit card with numbers on it & a signed certificate by approved fitter.

i've no idea which one it is but it could be...do you get a very quiet whine/beep when you open and lock the car and a little red flashing light by the gear stick?

Its probably the OEM "Meta" alarm if it was fitted from standard. Does it work from the Fiat Key?. I wouldn't bother replacing it they are pretty good IMO. Unless you want something dodgy like remote engine start, remote windows etc.

yeah it was fitted from standard. is it a Fiat alarm then? It does work from the fiat key yeah. Well full closure would be nice and a louder siren cos that one's quite quiet but otherwise i'm not really bothered no!

easily done using window lift module & extension siren.

so can u get this fiited by the dealership after you buy the car? e.g aftermarket fitted?

any aftermarket window lift module would fit

how does the window lift module work T? got any links?

I believe the alarm can be done by any fiat dealer mate...and if you don't want the fiat one then any other place will fit you a probably better aftermarket alarm.

When alarm activated it simply sends a live (or earth) to window motors. Module senses current increase (glass has reached top) then cuts supply.

ah right ok then ace. easy to fit or is it an alarm guy job?

you need to cut into the window wiring, depends if your confident enough.

i'm confident...but dunno if i'm good enough!! do i just do a search for one and buy off the net?

Clifford do a OEM replacement that works off the original fob, tis what i have

would the extension siren just wire into the exising siren? i want it to be loooouuudddd!

What is the model of the clifford alarm?
