I know that the gp doesnt have an alarm, so whats the small cylinder in the middle of the dash next to the windscreen? I thought it was the alarm but then figured that the gp hasnt got one! :bang:

This has been covered before, but its a cover for a sun radiation sensor for climate control (if fitted). On cars without it its just a pieice of plastic to cover the hole foe the sensor.

Oh I feel so fobbed off.. my fiat dealer said it was the remote central locking sensor.....

Nope its even an optional extra on the abarth!!.

Oh ****ing hell thats complete ****!
How hard are these cars to break into?
I tell you what! When in this day and age do you buy a car minus an alarm system! more to the point, why the hell are Fiat selling the car minus an alarm system? They have all the latest gadgets (blu&me ect) so any decent car thief or similar will know these cars have these systems, know the likley hood of an I-Pod being in the glove box, BAM smashed window, no warning obviously due to lack of alarm, and minus the contents of your car!
Are they immobilized?
Thats a further expense for me then :(
Coilovers out of the window then, decent alarm system to be fitted first.
That has made me quite furious, do the rest of the fiat range come minus an alarm system?
And as a result of it being an optional extra, alot in circulation will not have an alarm system (ABARTH).

Did you do any research on the car when you bought it? how come you managed to buy one without realising it does not have an alarm.
I dont think many of the small cars have alarms, i mean corsas dont and i dont think the clio does (correct me if i am wrong there) but also an alarm is no deterrant to a proper thief, if they are in and out within 10s what difference will an alarm make if some one is nto around to hear the window smash then they not going to be around to see what going on when a car alarm goes off.

I have looked in depth into the car, but managed to miss this important attribute (or lack of), I assumed as it is one of the range topping models it would come with an alarm system as standard, I have only ever owned sporty cars, so all cars I havce owned have been alarmed immobilized. I assumed in this day and age that a Range topping model would come with an alarm as standard, This car is the equivalent to lets say the Corsa SRi (alarmed), The Renault Clio 2.0 VVT (Alarmed). I would understand if this was a base model, but it's a £13000 car. Any Higher end of a car range should come with an alarm as standard!

Yes they are imobilised. i didnt realise it didnt have an alarm either:eek: told my insurance company it did because i assumed a top of the range brand new car would have!!!

If you plan to keep the car for a few years i would get a decent one fitted because it will save you money in the long run. Never assume anything about cars, do your research.

I'd be alarmed if I had a Corsa or Clio :yuck:

On a serious note, I liked the Corsa interior but couldn't stomach the 5 door's looks. The Clios on Motability were all standard auto boxes and cr@p equipment levels. The GP looks the biz in 3 or 5 door form, the Eleganza comes with a spec list you can only dream of with other cars AND has a semi-auto box with stunning economy(hopefully!!!).(y)
