it will go down to 2 lux the past few cameras ive seen like the one you have fitted have suffered form bad ghosting due to the glare off the LED's but if it works why worry

do you have to start it recording every journey or have you managed to make it work automatically?

I just jump in, plug the archos in and start the engine. It records and plays my musce through the media player at the same time (Multitasks like a woman ).

how about tagging it into the back of the fag lighter that way it'll start recording the moment you turn the key :idea:

Sorry that's what I meant, records when I turn the ignition on, still gotta plug it in though lol, Would have it permanent but I use the Archos for lots of things.

what do you connect the camera to? and how far can you see in the dark?

It connects up to my Archos, which records 400 hrs of video, I've routed the cables behind the instrument pannel and into the glovebox for this.

At night it's brilliant, I was suprised myself at how much it captures - I would say it see's as much as the driver see's and a little more where the lights aren't lit up - due to the nightvision.

mate you should mount a screen or even better a HUD then you could swicth your lights off and use the night vision to drive in stealth. You could even fit some IR headlights

lol sounds a bit dangerous / sarcastic... although you can get infra red lights to fit behind the grill, not that I'm going to.

i dont like the look or see the point really, sorry just my opinion. Also i would think is a scum magnet and would not want to pack it all away everytime i left it anywhere near nottingham! I have respect for you for trying new things tho so not all bad!

lol thanks, it just unclips, same as the sat nav, none of its ever on show except the camera (which will be moved to under the grille soon) The archos was only on the seat for the pics to be taken.

After seeing this and toying with the idea for a while i've finally decided to give it a go..

I went for the SD DVR as its solid state is should survive any impact better in the car than a HDD

when it comes i'll let you know how i get on..

Does that not sort of defeat one of the points of having it?

I think its quite cool, but i wouldnt bother because i'd have no use(i dont do race etc. because i drive a 1.2) but i am gonna be gettin a reversing camera so i might be using the reverse sensor guide u made but adapting it.

could be used as evidence in the case of a accident though?
