B****y hell, how have you managed to CRACK the discs on a car that can't be more than 2 years old?!

lol i hope mine don't crack after nurburgring. try looking into getting some TAROX discs, there awesome, don't go for any of these drilled discs cause there crap, just try gettin some vented and groved ones.

T-jet?
A little tip for you and anyone else considering a trip to and a few laps of the Nurbergring and/or the Nordschleife or any other trackday event. Unless you make specific arrangements your normal UK car insurance policy wont cover you during the time you are on the track. If you damage or total your car you will be in your own with a big bill, same applies if you are involved in a fracas with anyone else and probably (but will stand corrected) the trackside furniture.

Too true done many a track day on bikes, some of the event organisers will post out details of any insurance co that will give temp cover, just remember lots of Dick Heads attened these events,( Stopped going 2yrs ago but still a D/H) not always your fault and could result in criminal proceedings being brought against you if serious, be carefull and enjoy.

Theres no chance I'd be taking my own personal use car (especially a GPS) to the ring.

Buy a track day car with your mates, then if you crash it you all chip in on repairs and you take it home on the trailer you carried it there on. Imagine smashing your GPS up, uninsured in the middle of germany.

If I owned something along the lines of a lotus exige then yes. The GPS doesn't handle well and has problems on the road let alone the track.

As for insurance comapanies, don't even post your cars plate on this forum. Yes insurance companies trawl forums, trackdays and other events. they will write down your plate and check you out. When you come to make a claim and you wonder why they know about your performance exhaust it's becuase they've probably watched you do a quarter mile at santa pod... ;)

i know its a risk driving around the ring uninsured, but if u just take it easy and be aware of other people on the track its all good! i did 10 laps in my gps and loved them all, timed myself a few times and got 10m 5 sec. Its not that bad at handeling, could be a lot better i must admit, compared to my mates civic type who i went with mine was turd! lol but i enjoyed myself, the whole experience was awsome, driving from burnley, lancs all way to the ring was an event in itself lol. The great thing about the gps as well was the fuel economy i filled up (£40) in burnley, lancs and got all the way to brussels in belgium before a had to put some in, and then even better the fuel was only 70p a litre, all in all, all the way there, 10 laps, and all the way back i used 4 tanks of diesel which i think is pretty dam good considering i did 1550 miles.:slayer:

Yeah thats transit van time. But if your uninsured your not going to push it that much! Would love to go round the Nurburg, not in my punto though! Guess i'll have to settle for Croft, just end up popping in one day on my way passed to or from work

If you really want to put your foot down you can get a days 'motorsport' insurance for around £80 well worth it and I wouldn't dare go on the nurburgring with out it!.

Oh and didn't sabine schmitz do 10mins 5sec in a transit van! ? :p.

She did better i think, lol but then again im not sabine smitz, i did meet her though and got her autograph! (y)

Nothing wrong with Croft a little on the flat, and i remember it was a bit bumpy, great fun on the bike, oh ! and F+++++g COLD, anyone south of Watford do not go you will get frostbite.

i've already looked into insurance, the company that i am looking at booking the weekend with don't offer insurance themselves but they can put you in touch with companys that will, i'm not stupid enough to buy a brand new GPS and then thrash around Nurburgring, its more about the journey there and the experience. just one of them things i'd love to do. :p

Im looking too, just had a quote for 344 quid for pads and disks fitted from Fiat. I went in this morning to have new pads fitted cause at my last service ( 2 months ago) they said they were on the way out and they were making grinding noises...anyway turns out i dont need pads and the disks had a lip on them due to the wear of the pads....they aslo said that if my car had covered less than 12K they would have changed the disk under warranty because of noises etc..he went on to tell me that the compound of the pads are very hard and that the newer version the of the GPS has differnet pads ! They modified my disks and pads to stop the grinding noises by grinding the lip off the disk and putting a groove in the pads to dispurse the dust ! They charged me 40quid to do that and advised to have the disk/pads changed in around 4K miles..Im gonna price some performance disks and pads up before i decide which to got for...oh and parts alone would be 245 quid.

bloody hell, abit pricey, get the discs and pads and do them yourself, not hard to do. took me an hour to do my fiesta discs and pads
