Hey fellow Fiat Forummers,

Just looking for a bit of advice really, found out today that the brake shoes on the rear drivers side have basically disintegrated (leaving only the metal backing plates) and also the cylinders have the beginnings of a leak. Kwik Fit quoted £240 to replace both back ones (The passengers cylinder also apparently had signs of beginning to leak out? This seemed quite pricy to me, how much should one EXPECT to pay for this kind of thing usually? Also, can anyone recommend a good garage in the future, so i don't get stuck at Kwik-Fit (only ended up there today as nobody else is open because of holidays, and car is needed for a LONG run tomorrow)

Thanks in advance!

Hi, :)
I'd say @ 1.5 to 2 hours work , and @ £80 / £100 in parts ,
so not extortionate..all depends where you live as to labour rates..,

put registration in Eurocarparts site for parts quote..
I've never seen an Eleganza less than 1242cc..

try National tyres and Autocare for a 2nd opinion..,

Funnily enough my wife's '54 plate Dynamic did the same trick last month, came to the conclusion the cylinders were only leaking because they had come out further than normal so took a flyer & just changed the shoes. Rechecked last week & bone dry.
