one thing that im not keen on(not the 1 pictured!)is how shiny the plastic finish is on the PS3
Yeah for the price of it I'd like to have seen a similar style to the Pani Game cube, something well different to the normal crap. I wish I still had mine, thieving scum.

i wasn't that keen on the styling of the game cube, but somewhere a while back i saw pics of one that looked more like a dvd player, i think it was made my pioneer or something, that one was v. pretty(y)

Yeah the Pani gamecube Pani = Panasonic to me anyway :D
This is one of the items I had stolen in a burglary a few years back, along with all my kids christmas pressies.
Very rare and very expensive for a gamecube, it did indeed play dvds and multi region games.

and 1 thing im very very glad about it the controllers, the reason i never got an xbox or a 360 was i couldnt stand the controllers, and when i saw the funny banana shaped ones that were going to be coming with the ps3, wasnt too happy.... but so glad they look like this instead.

The PS3 controller Is set to include Bluetooth technology for wireless play with the addition of USB cables to wire the controller for recharging

now i know bugger all about the 360, which could have that same technology, but that, coupled with either an internal 20gb or 60gb hard drive, backwards compatability with the ps2, and ps1 games, and screen shots like this:

(pics are too big to post)

and the rumors that they could be re-making one of the greatest games of all time, final fantasy 7... makes me very very excitied lol  :D

You won't see an awfull lot of difference between the 360 and PS3 games. So it will be more about which games you prefer and at this time the 360 has the better games lined up for my taste. Although I will buy a PS3 too, for those games that wont be on 360.

Thats exactly what I did with the PS2 and Xbox, I bought the Xbox for its fantastic modding potential and better games, and the PS2 for Gran Turismo only tbh thats the only game I have and want lol.

I however will NOT be buying a PS3 until they have a decent price tag £500 is f**king rediculous for any console I paid £380 for my 360 (November last year) but I dont mind its hardware spec more than justifies it (3 x 3.2Ghz Power PC processors) and I take pride in the fact Microsoft took a loss for each one they sold lol! :D.

yeah we get ripped off good and proper in blighty. For some reason dollars have the same value as the pound when it comes to certain companies so you can gaurantee that $500 will mean £500 over here on a PS3. I'll get work to send me a couple over and I'll flog one of them.

the problem is mate.... everything is different.

i have an american psone at home, with 20 odd games, and none of them work over here, the station its self runs on a different current, and the games are formatted differently, so its not as if when i go to toronto in 2 weeks i can take orders and bring some back on the cheap, cause they wont foookin work

Didn't I hear that the PS3 was going to be multi region though ?
I am not sure on that one as I haven't really followed the console.

I have a few step down converters for the current issue. Most of my games systems were Amercan or Jap imports because back in the snes and maga drive days they actually ran better and faster than the PAL machines so I was prepared to pay an extra few quid for the games.

thinkin about it... neither have i, and ive done a fair bit of reading about it, i just assumed it would be like the other playstations were (actually, was the 2 multi rejoinal as well? ive never checked!)

1 slightly annoying thing about the new internal hard drive system for the 3 is that there wont be slots for memory cards, so in order to get the stuff off the ps 1 and 2 memory cards youll need an adapter to plug them into the ps3 console.

and will sony be providing this adapter with the new system.... chances are somewhere between slim and none :(

Yeah, they will milk you for every penny they can.
I thought Microsoft would do the same with the 360 so I went out and bought some extra long lan cable, turned out I wasted my time and money as it was already in the box  I got a free dvd remote in my first 360 too (y)

The PS2 wasn't multi region nor the PS1, shame really. There were ways to obviously alter that, just ask custard, he'll no doubt have all the details :D

im pretty sure that £500 will be the package price for the 60gb version, so youd prob get a game a controller... and maybe the dvd remote, but i doubt that.

i got it the wrong way round then, i assume that the ps3 will be the same as the ps2, in that u cant get 1 in america and bring it over here then play PAL games on it.

i did email a company who do mods for the slimline ps2 to play NTSC (or watever the american versions are called) on a PAL machine... but they never got back to me. :(
