I have a 1.2 active, and have seen a set of clocks from a sporting. Same shape cars, the mark 2, so same shape clocks. Would this transplant work? Would the mileage carry over too?

well, i have been trying to find this out for a 2b as well, but no one has been able to help me.

The milage is stored on the speedo unit itself so would need to be re-set, however when i had mine done, there was a biig argument cos the DVLA dont let garages tamper with the miles now, whether up or down.

You might have problems

From what I have been told you can put sporting ones (including rev counter etc) straight into a non sporting model and it shall work however as Simon says it takes the mileage from the old car over with it (not a bad idea if u want to cut a few miles off your cars history? ;-))

You are unable to transfer mk2b speedos into an mk2 and vice versa as they use different pins and software within the actual speedo.

I THINK that is correct however I may (and probably am) wrong

Mark

ah. Well i did see a mileage correction tool on ebay, with bids @ £1500, but i don`t think i`ll go that far LOL would be cheaper to saw me car in half and weld a sporting front half on

I`ll wait til i see one with less miles on. Mine is at 22, and clocks on ebay are at 31. Mind u, he lives in Newcastle, so maybe if i drove the long way...

you can get companys to change the electronic milage anyway, i got quoted 80 quid just to change some numbers, so fck that...lol
