Gromit,
Some bodge job that is!
Suspeact you will have to carefully untape the whole thing and see if you can physically trace where the wires go to, or come from.
I would strongly suggest that you disconnect your battery first!
Best of luck

Re: Very Odd Looking Diagnostic port

I'm guessing it's a badly removed immobiliser or someone has tried to deactivate the OBDII socket to prevent theft. (Wasn't aware Fiat had an issue with this, but BMW do / did)

Re: Very Odd Looking Diagnostic port

Could this be anything to do with an alarm that was removed from the van.
I also know the dealer broke a glow plug. Could any of these things have any bearing on why wires were cut . One final point is it possible to fit a new diagnostic unit ???

That explains it - badly fitted and removed alarm.

Looks like you'll need to find an auto electrician who can trace the wires back to reinstate them.

Re: Very Odd Looking Diagnostic port

Big thanks for your help so far

As the van has shown warnings in the past and i have attended to them and cleared them via action (not via ODB) I am wondering if it is the way i have the multiecuscan set up.

I have the right cables

I have the free program
I have downloaded the drivers
I have port 4 showing a positive test when i run the test on the multiecuscan.
I have tried to connect at all baud rates and only one shows test passed and thats 38500.

I will unravel the tape from the wires and upload photo of what i find
Any other help would be appreciated.

Re: Very Odd Looking Diagnostic port

Hi folks
It does indeed appear to be an alarm install just cut out. I have little black sensors in the cab that have wires that are also cut off

I have finally managed to strip back insulation tape
Found that any cut wires, are wires that have been let into existing wires and a small blob of solder added. Photo Below

I intend to snip them back tight and sleeve them with something

I still cant get the scanner to connect to multiecuscan

I can only assume that i have purchased a duff one as everthing else seems ok. the lights come on and flash correctly then it stops on 1 light

Any further advice about the soldered wires and connecting the ecuscan would be appreciated.
