Anyone had any dealings with Fiat Customer Care? The situation I'm in is the Brav has been back to Fiat on 3 previous occasions for diagnosis on an engine management light issue which I knew to be the throttle body. I was offered the opportunity to purchase a new ECU which would, "almost certainly fix it sir" which I politley declined. They then 'found a bravo CD' which they whacked in the laptop and all was good. It's been back twice more and had the same treatment when the fault has re-occurred.

It's gone back in for the 4th time today and I've been told it needs a new throttle body. Parts and labour is £350 quid! So I say to them, well I've already paid the best part of £200 in mis-diagnosis so you can offset that against the bill. "Best we can do is 10% sir, speak to Fiat Customer Care. Cue, perfectly reasonable phone call to Mumbai, "Sir, your vehicle is out of manufacturers warranty" etc. I know that, it's 7 years old FFS. I have to write a letter to Fiat Uk with bills etc and they will assess.

Do you reckon I'll get some cash back or should I buy the part online 2nd hand and get an indy to fit? open to the floor

For Bravo/a Marea... WE are FIAT customer care.

Continue with your claim for money back if you think you have a good case. In the mean time find a decent Independant garage and get them to fit the second hand part for you.

Good luck

Haha, I like it. The only issue is I went down this route last time, replaced the parts like for like, only problem is with it being fly by wire I think the part needs to be electronically calibrated to the ECU, is this rubbish or does it sound likely?

even if that is the case only the worst garage will not have a the facility to undertake that work. If the garage you go to can't help you then FIAT will probably tell you the same.
State where you are based and someone local to you might be able to recommend a reliable Italian specialist.
