I unplugged my MAF and drove the car ?

Think I have a problem with the MAF again.. Lack of power and car nearly stalls when I stop... same as what happened before..

If I unplug the MAF, it ticks over fine, but what problems could arise from driving it ?

Also, as the MAF is only 5 months old... would Fiat replace it ? as it came from them originally.. not sure if parts come with 1 yr warranty... and don't fancy paying another £170 for a new one..

Cheers

Tried that with mine. It'll tick over but wont rev. I was told to try it by a mechanic, that said vw's have a default on them if you unplug it. Not the same with fiats.

Sounds more like you need to fix whatever is killing your MAF first.

That's whats got me thinking Tom... whats killing the thing in the first place ?

Can't get the thing out to see if it needs a clean... my security torx bits won't fit it for some reason...

Don't want to bodge it, just incase Fiat can offer a replacement under warranty.

the ecu has fixed values it applies in the absence of MAF data, based on revs. this wil make it driveable but the fuel mix wont take into account air pressure, but air temp data is from a different sensor.

it may run lumpy, it certainly won't be as responsive and your fuel efficiency will be worse.

maf has a "hot film", this is easily burnt out if you have an induction kit that is oiled with filter oil. the oil burns when it touches the hot film, killing the maf.
