Hi All in a bit of trouble here and hope someone can help.
I have a 1997 Fiat Marea Weekend TD100SX Great car been ultra reliable used daily. Bought it about 2 years ago at an auction. Unfortunately I didn't know at the time it should have came with the red master key. It did come with three blue keys. This has not been a problem till today. My wife went to start the car and it would not recognise the key code and would not start. Looking at other key problem posts, it does not look good. Is there anything I can do to get the car going again? Any advice welcome -good or bad!
Thanks,
Dave.

Hi Yes tried them all. That was the first thing I did after the no go on the key we normally use.

I think the emergency start procedure on the fiats requires the red key so your not going to be able to do that.

All i can think of is to try and get a working ECU, codebox and key from a Marea TD in the scrapyard. That should make it work. Then just copy the blue key at timpsons.

But there are many places that can bypass the immobilisor, but doing so will mean the car isn't protected anymore. Some immobilisors can have an effect on dials on the dash aswell. I.e they may not respond. But that rarely happens. For a grage to rip the wiring apart and bypass the imobilisor may cost around £250, they will probably need the car a whole day though.

There are some ECU doctors aswell, try googling, ecu doctors, ecu problems, ecu repair etc.

Thanks for that I knew this would be a headache.
I'll try the search as suggested. Can't think there will be many around this part of the scottish borders but I wiil have a go. The car is in great condition and runs really well. It totally changed my opinion of Fiat cars - or did! No shame on it though it looked like new and only cost £800 at the auction with only 64k on it. I'm not worried about protection. They might want to get at the contents, but does anyone want to steal a 9 year old Fiat?

All I know is that when I put the key in that was working fine yesterday. That one and the other keys tried don't put the key light out and it won't start.
Assuming AXLE is on the right track (thanks for the reply) I don't at this point know what the ECU and the code block actualy are and what they look like never mind where to find them!
I change the oil and filters and other fluids. Pump the tyres up and that's my lot.

Unfortunately having done all these things. I find that the injector pump also has some sort of ecu on it that needs reprogramming to by the dealer. Either that or replace the injector pump with the one that all the other ecu parts came from. I GIVE UP! I have a nice 1.9 TD 100SX Weekend Estate if anybody wants it. Great engine in good condition. Ran like dream! 84k on the clock. MOT till May. Cambelt done at last MOT. Any offers? Tel 01578760310

The TD immobilisers are a expensive to get done, ie new pump new immo, £1000+?. Some people out there will recover key codes for lost keys, but could be immo faulty or pump switch faulty. I have heard that the immo part can be removed from pump and the pump switch hard wired to ignition switch. I would like to investigate the TD immo myself, but its hard to get hold of a scrap pump/immo/key kit.

MAREA WILL NOT RECOCNISE THE KEY. WON'T START. NOW FOR SALE!

Yes I have found that out myself. I have Shelled out £110 for an ecu and immobiliser box key barrel transponder with a red and blue key. No joy! The car is for sale. I give up! Good car great engine - what a waste. Mot till may new timing belt fitted at last mot. Any reasonable offers to [email protected] or phone dave on 01578760310 email me if you want a picture.
