Just had my MOT and it failed absolutly gutted lol, sencond year in a row its failed.

Emissions - This is where i need the help. Heres the results>

Temp Pass.

FAST IDLE TEST FAIL

rpm pass 2720 limit 2500-3000

CO FAIL! 1.81% limit 0.30 MAX

hc pass 99pm limiy 200 max

lamba pass 0.98 limit 0.97-1.03


SECOND FAST IDLE TEST FAIL

rpm pass 2690 limit 2500-3000

CO FAIL! 1.15% limit 0.30 MAX

hc pass 83pm limiy 200 max

lamba pass 0.97 limit 0.97-1.03

natural idle test pass

rpm pass 830 limit 450-1500

co pass 0.21% limit 0.50 max

P.S It failed last year on emissions was alot worse but had the CAT replaced apparently lol.

Well, the cat is working, thats for sure.

When did it last have the air filter changed?

A year ago few days before my last MOT, thing is ive used it for about 11 months and ive been using a pipercross air filter changed it back to original one though for MOT, do you reckon that this could have anything to do with it?

Could be, or you're burning oil.

I'm sure someone will say 'its the lambda' as they always do.

What about spark plugs and leads? How old are they?

leads could be 2 years plus got them with the car and the plugs around 13 months old Bosch Super 4's, so you reckon i should give it a little service?

good advice from Tom there, run it on motorway as fast as you can get away with, also if fuel tank is nearly empty ,put some aditive in

Get half a tank of super unleaded, stick a bit of additive in there, and drive everywhere in 2nd gear on the way to the MOT station.

take it out thrash the life out of it for 30 mins then get the emissions done

So would it be wise to still change everything im on a really low budget at the minute lol.

Yes cos they will be worn out. All that lot will cost less than a tank of fuel.

Whats the best oil?

Use the pipercross only if you clean it.

Selenia 20k is my oil of choice but any semi synth 10W40 will do.
