Anybody noticed that when your Bravo is idling at 800rpm, you can get the rpm to drop by attempting to close both front windows (electric ones) at same time?

Drops about 150rpm :)

Does the same on my Mum's 1998 Punto!

This can be improved (but not completely solved) with an 'earth bonding kit'

Poor engine bay earthing can play a factor so earthing points properly can improve responsiveness in windows etc and reduce engine revs dropping when windows are opened or lights turned on initially etc.

No it can't.

All you're seeing when you do that is the ECUs reaction time to the drop in revs. The window motors take power from the alt, the alt takes power from the engine and the revs drop.

Its just showing that the alt is working.

yeah why not put it all on rear demisster lights full beam spots (if u have em) do both windows and the sunroof then it gets fun lol

and sub on full whack ;) try starting the car with that lot on the go!

power drain

I tried this, started car, ticking over on 800 put headlamps and rear heater. then operated both windows, still 800 rpm. Is my car ok do you think?

who cares is it drops slightly wen u fiddle with windows, i did notice it drops wen i put lights on.

I had a Rover 420 that did that AND if you tried to shut all four at the same time when they were fully up you could stall it!
And people pick on Fiats!!!!

Oh boy i need to try this out tomorrow. I've really never noticed. i'll get the 755watt rms amp goin, rear demister, heaters, dull beam and windows on the go and try starting the car... lol
