My clutch is very stiff and sticky.

Is this my clutch going? Is there any other repair which will fix it or do I need to replace it?

I had that problem for about 3 months, my 1st and 2nd gear where a bit stiff too, didnt get any worse so i dismissed it, then my car went "crunch crunch" and now im selling it in pieces.

Does that mean renew the clutch asap then? Dont say it is a gearbox problem!

rite i'm gonna sound like a tit here but i had the same problem not so long ago (has happened every now n again since) where the clutch pedal was very very stiff and didnt seem to have much travel anymore. i was on my way back from huddersfield and was pretty much having to shift without the clutch as it got worse, towards the end i could barely get any gears at all so when i got home i switched it off and had a look...
i started by pulling the clutch pedal up (away from the bulkhead/floor) as it seemed to be out of line with the other pedals, but once i'd done that it started working again fine... every now and again i have to hook my foot under the clutch and pull it up to stop it from going solid again (once every 2 weeks or so) but other than that its ok, i'd say try that first then start to worry, and i know i need to get it fixed but i havent got time atm :(

i had as similar prob to the original post, i was to told by a mechanic to pump the clutch pedal so that the clutch fluid could flow freely. i hope this helps.

@ Jay, check your slave cylinder for deffinate, you may well have a slight leak by the sounds of things!
But for CERTAIN, the problem with your clutch pedal not returning-is the lack of a clutch return spring lol!! I had the exact same problem, even after changing the s/cylinder. Cost about 2.40 from Fiat and is a bugger to fit inverted and in the dark! Quiet an odd shape sp[ring and very stiff, so one from an unused eck-chair will not suffice! It will fix the return problem in a jiffy, but at first will make the clutch a little stiffer and more 'springy' funnily enough!
I never noticed mine snap, no ping or anything, but now its as good as new.
