I have been having a think about the current threads of note section and how we can utilise this to its fullest potential.
I have noticed recently people have been asking about the details of having their cam belt changed, from the recommended mileage it should be done at, to the cost in various places within the UK (Europe/world in some cases). How would people feel about creating a thread which contains some of this detail, and having it poster on the main forum page.
Example, when someone has had the cam belt done post the details :- Mileage, Cost, Garage Detail, Problems, Extras and anything relevant.
Then other people looking for a good price in their area could go and look at the thread and find whats best for them, or just get an average cost they should be looking at paying.
We could also put a link at the top to the bravo/a guide to cam belt changed for further technical details.
This Method could also be used in other cases such as servicing, again following the same structure as the cam belt information.
I think this would make it a lot easier for people to know what when and where to do their cam belts, understandable its not something you get done every week but quite often its one of the first questions from new members and visitors to the forum.
Well sorry for the essay, but please do voice your opinions, this way a final decision can be made. Please remember that doing this kind of thing can get out of control if people start saying the best place to get a light bulb from and petrol,and having specified thread of note for all of them. I was thinking along the lines of the more important overall running of the cars rather than the little bits we take for granted.
