Hi,

i have a 99' 80sx great car, but have recently developed a noise when turning at speed into left hand corners only. Could it be a bearing going?

Any ideas?

Cheers Millo

Sounds very much like it. Is it a "whum-whum" noise?

strange sounds

I also get strange sounds when turning at low speed. It sounds like metals grinding together!!! First time I heard it, i jumped out of the car and checked front wheels but everything looked fine. Could the car be mildly breaking when I turn?? (It happens only when i turn 50-60 degrees or more, not small turns)

Re: strange sounds

Have you got after-market alloys and are they larger than standard?

strange sounds

I have the stock 15' rims and stock brakes.

Re: Re: strange sounds

The sound even comes when only turning the wheel very lightly to the left at speed. I have the Stilo 3-pronged spoke alloys on 17's. Hope the wheel doesnt just fall off one day wen going round a corner!

Re: Re: Re: strange sounds

Sounds either bearing or drive shaft related. Jack the car up and hold the wheel at the 12 o'clock and six o'clock positions and try to rock the wheel. If there is any play then it's the bearing. If there isn't then check that your driveshaft gaiters aint leaking or get it to a mechanic.

Some might say that those who tarnish a Bravo with bits of the Style-less deserve what they get but I'm feeling generous today ;)

Re: Re: Re: strange sounds

Sorry, meant to say on the right hand side of the car. Noise when turning left = problem on right hand side of car (generally)
