I live in a village on a one way street (its done so as not to confuse the tractor drivers!). However, there is an increasing stream of women drivers who go the wrong way, I have just seen yet another. I dont really care too much for them, but one day it will be me they hit!

Who do I talk to about increasing awareness / improving signs etc. Is it the highway authority?

council is your best bet

get in touch with your council's road/transport department and tell them that the signs aren't clear enough and there's gonna be an accident, tell them to log the call(even better, send a letter as well) - then if someone is knocked down they're ****ed cause you've informed them of the problem.
it's a bit like a damaged pavement, if you trip over and no one has informed the council about it, its tough ****. but if you know someone has complained, then trip over it the council are liable (obviously giving them time to fix it).
and don't forget to look both ways at all times....you don't know when there's a woman about, or even worse, a pakistani woman, or even worse still one of those asian women that wear those ninja style head covers with the slits for eyes. incidently i saw two women with the ninja head gear driving one of them friggin' souped up subaru impreza 4x4 jobbies the other day....laugh? i nearly ****!

Squeal to the fuz

Go to public phone box and tip off the local bobbies anonomousely, tell them to be at that street at a specific time and nail the sods as they come in the wrong way. The more the merrier.

I did that to my local pub, they were causing a nuisance where they all came out drunk and I got them caught redhanded entering their cars by the good old fuzzies. End of problem as they lost their licience and have to go by bike or Sinclair C5 now.
