Thanks guys had a really good day got 119 bhp from 1.4 Sporting with gsr kit and remap.

How do the guys measure the torque there as seemed to be a bit low on mine on few others. Is it at wheels or fly not good with these things.

Im not intirely sure because im a complete newb wen it comes to stuff like this but the HP was taken from the Fly wheel so i guess that the Tork was at the wheels but that could be completely wrong.

Looks like ive found a new interest its not all going to be ICE from now on after ive sorted out the handling it looks like a bit of head work.

From what I picked up at Red dot they calculate at the wheels where chipped do it at the fly wheel ..will try and get Oldschool to get on here later this week [If I can] and go over the finer points with you all :)

Nice to meet everyone yesterday!

I was a bit miffed that my 1.6 could not be re-maped after a 200+ mile drive down there but thats life!

I've got Angel Tuning coming out today to meet me and remap it. He is sure that he will be able to do it, even with this strange Motorola CPU. :slayer: (y)

I'll let you all know.

Yeah excellent day Thanks to Oldschool and PNL for all there help. I cant wait to see what my car runs after remap and hopefully iron out some of the flat spots in low revs.
GSR Kit sounds absolutely brilliant and the difference was really felt at about 80mph the amount of accelleration still left is a vast improvement.

Did you have the same problem as me mate?

Matt:)

If you want to do that and get them out then that is your perogative ..but from what I saw on a printout yesterday when an abarth which should be 170bhp standard only make 159 after an angel tuning map really made me wonder if some people really know what they are doing

Red dot

Attended the red dot RR and remap yesterday and to say i'm pleased is an understatement.

What a brilliant setup, professional and extremely knowledgeable, Peter from gsr is exactly the same, a very helpful and genuine man.

Without trying to start a 'which tuning company is best' thread, I think red dots results compared to other companys are spot on. The only cars which had engine problems and wrongly quoted figures were cars tuned by companys other than red dot.

The GSR reputution proved itself over and over yesterday with excellent results from it's induction kits. A good day had by all.

I know it's been said before by other owners but if you are a 1.9 owner thinking of a remap then do it. I smiled all the way home ;)

Re: Red dot

How did the clutch feel in the higher gears Kris?

This I do think is a useful upgrade if the standard drive train can handle it.

The brakes certainly can! (y)

The clutch feels fine, a bit grabby but otherwise fine. tbh if you don't drive the clutch on any car properly you will need a new one, and I know for a fact that the grande clutches are alot stronger than the mk2s.

The brakes are good, but I have some red dot discs and pads on order soon anyway ;)

the torque curve is slot smoother and so is the power delivery, I would recommend it. Not to mention the difference in acceleration, especially as the turbo comes in sooner, thus eliminating alot of lag.

Not sure if i do have a dodgy ECU but yes it was in the low hundreds so they didnt risk it. They did say that it can be done at Red Dot but they just need a backup ECU for if the Map doesnt take. Oldschool told me to give him a ring after today and he's going to get it sorted.
Just out of interest how much are Angel going to charge you.

Thankyou (y) while we do not wish to run down other companies this has been proven time and time again and claims made by other companies very often untrue I saw it with my own eyes yesterday and so did many other people ..and as spooky mulder always said the truth is now well and truly out there ;)

Red dot were doing the right thing and as any decent company would give the facts ..the processor on the ecu for the 1.6 stilo can become corrupted if you try to enter a log that it wont accept and by trying to remove the then corrupted log can fry the ecu .they didn't really want the situation of leaving an owner high and dry with a fried ecu and not being able to get home ..of course it can be done and will be but they will also have a back up ecu with them at the time of mapping should anything go wrong ..nothing is guaranteed with tuning and quite often expectations can be as disappointing as well ..tuning can be a long drawn out process and a cautious approach is very often better than jumping into the pot head first ..I can only agree with the decision made on the day to not mapp the two 1.6 stilo's at that time and patience is often rewarded with a good result in the end

Being one of those owners i totally agree and that shows the professionality of all the people involved. I would rather spend an extra few ££ in travel to get a proper job done. And anyway i had a good day and got my Induction kit fitted what more do you want from a weekend.
I feel that a lot of other companies would have just thought of the extra money that they would be taking and go ahead with the map.

Would like to know how the car is feeling and was all that crawling around under your car worth the effort

Yes is all i can say to that. Dont know if you saw another post i put earlier but i said that i have a lot more response after 80mph and the flat spots at the Beginning are a lot smoother.
Only thing is after putting it on the torque has gone down slightly. Dont know why?

Re: Red dot

i really hope everyone had a god day yesturday. im glad i made the journey down. thanks to pete, phil and the guys at red dot for organising and helping on the day. much apreciated by all.

im glad someone mentioned about chiped uk giving torque figures from the fly and not the wheels. the 317ft-lb is making more sense now.

and just to show this figure wasnt made up: ;)

bhp though was very close between chipped (163.4bhp)and red dot 162.6bhp). which is a good thing (y)

and i now have a free flowing induction cone on again so should improve figures more when the ecu gets used to it.

roll on the final stilo jtd gsr kit :slayer:

Great day (even though i only came down in the afternoon)

The red dot guys are the best around had experience twice with them now.

Car feels much more responcive after being "tinkered with" (y)

Was nice meeting you all yesterday. Agree with all the previous posts here. Guys at Red Dot do certainly seem to know their stuff. Can't believe the difference from the remap, the amount of extra torque is superb! Wonder how long the tyres will last now though :)

Just need to get the GSR kit now. Also tempted by some of the brake kits from Red Dot but think that might have to wait a while first.:D
