P0503 Fault Code Vehicle Speed Sensor A intermittent/erratic/high

&

EBD failure display on dashboard with ABS light on...

Brand new Battery fitted

Has anyone experience of this fault code and the EBD failure on the display, the engine goes into a limp mode it has only done 12,000 miles.

We have a series of issues firstly the turbo had a issue which turned out to be the vanes getting stuck then an injector failure which was replaced, 2nd intermittent injector and now the issue as above, seems a range of issues all in the place of a couple months.....:confused::eek::eek:

You say that the battery was changed. Did the fault appear at the same time? Low voltage can cause ABS fault messages. It may just need clearing to see if it reappears.

Thanks for the reply.

The fault was present before the battery was changed, and afterwards i cleared the P0503 code via OBD but the ABS light was still on, I have a NEXTEX NX501 reader not sure if it clears ABS faults though

Never heard of that reader, but after looking it up I see it is purely an OBD diagnostic reader. You need something that covers "4 system" or all system diagnostics to both read and clear codes from the ABS or other ECUs. Yours only covers emissions related engine and drivetrain systems.

MultiEcuScan is probably the best for Fiats, although it is software that runs off a PC or Apple device and you need the right connection cables to use it.

If you replaced the battery because it was faulty and the ABS error occurred at around the same time, I still think that would be where I would start. Get the codes cleared (there may be others present when you connect a reader that can interrogate the ABS ECU) and go from there.

My wife's Hyundai threw up several ABS fault codes last year. Her battery wasn't holding its charge and the ABS ECU voltage dropped below threshold each time the engine was started. Fitting a new battery and clearing the codes fixed it.
