Engine should crank even with immobiliser on. If the starter isn't engaging. That's the first problem to resolve. The 30-40 minute wait sounds like heatsoak jamming the starter solenoid. Run a 12v jumper wire to the solenoid to see if it clicks in. If it does your ignition switch is next suspect. If it doesn't then starter overhaul or new starter is next.
