i see that this subject has been partially raised before but i just wondered if anyone had actually addressed it
as indicated the 2008 ace airstream is labeled as a ducato 100 but i think it has a ford 2.2 multijet engine and associated 5 speed gearbox
as discussed before the issue is that of low gear ratios ie max torque occurs at around 40mph--by the time i get to 60/70 mph it is well into the max power band and literally drinks diesel so has anyone actually tried to get the gearbox changed to a 6 speed ?? or even the final diff ratio improved ?? if so how/where was it done and did it make much difference ??
i dearly love this truck and want to keep it--any comment will be appreciated

Cheapest option would probably be 16 inch wheels and tyres to increase final drive ratio.

hi corcia--ta for reply it is food for thought but on reflection it would only lift my max torque by around 3 mph--cheers

Difference between 215 70 r15 and 225 75 r16 is 6mph at 70mph.

Diff ratios available are 13/73 and 15/74 as far as I could ascertain

even my 6 speed is not particuarly long geared on my 2011 euro 4----2.6k revs for 70mph, modern 6 speeds seem to sit around 2-2.2k revs for 70 mph - makes a big difference
