Hi I'm new to this forum so sorry if I press a few wrong buttons!

I have a very nice 2008 (reg 2009) swift kontiki 669 tag axle. I am a bit dissapointed that I have been advised to replace the clutch after only 19k miles - but then I have up and down the alps a few times!!

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a 'heavy duty' clutch which will be more suited to a 3 litre mutijet that has to deal with 5-6 tonnes!

Also the flywheel 'knocks' on start-up which it has done from new - all complaints about this noise whilst under warranty, I was told was the exhaust but then hey-ho, as soon as I take it to an independent garage they diagnose the noise within seconds!!! FLYWHEEL!!

Sorry for going on!.........Any comments please!

I have not heard of a heavy duty clutch for the 3.0 but if you change it it may be advisable to change the flywheel at the same time. These have a duel mass flywheel that have been known to fail.

Just had mine replaced last week due to reverse judder ,that Fiat say does not exist on the 3L
Cover, centre plate, slave cyl DMF and bolts £1100 started at 8.45 collected at 5.30 same day.A class Hymer 2007.

Hi. I would be very surprised if you had clutch or flywheel problems at such low mileage.

Normally when the DMF starts to go you will get a lot of black dust around the engine bay, I would have thought at least 100,000 miles before any problems in that direction.

I would get several more opinions from other garages.

Thanks for the input guys - I will get a second opinion but what else could this 'knock, knock' be?? - The noise doesnt seem to be getting worse, but I am touring Morocco this year with no break down assist there and dont want to get stuck!

i have a 2007 van with the 3Lt engine (160 Maxi) and have just replaced the Clutch at 315'000 Km for the 1st time , still the standard DMF , Gearbox reconditioned at 140'ooo km , but could with another go as can be hard to get into gears . I try not to reverse the van up at hill due to the judder

Not sure if this applies to your model but the rear engine mount on some models has a large bolt through the middle which is prone to snapping off, because of where it snaps it looks intact and is only obvious if you put a socket on it as it will just spin.

Is it just two or so knocks as you start up? Does it knock at all when you switch off?
Does it do it at any other time?

HI chris1117 - its just when I start up - I always thought it was the exhaust hitting the bodywork (thats the sort of noise it makes!)
