Can anything else go wrong? No dont answer that!!!

Afte the back door problem recently sorted my back box fell off yesterday. 04 Doblo with 125k on the clock. Broke at weld joining box to main pipe. Cat looks in pretty poor condition too. Quoted first £400 then £300 to replace cat and rear section.(n)

I mistakenly thought Fiat had their quality problems sorted or am i just being naieve?

Aanyway keeping smiling......

Mrs_G's Cargo was serviced today. They exhaust has failed in the same way. The garage are hoping to weld in a new section as the rest of the system is still serviceable. I'll update next week with how successful they were.

The failed section was cut out, a sleeve made and welded over the existing pipes to complete the system and she's good to go again.

Cost: Just one more hour of labour on top of the service. Much better than paying a fast fit centre for a new system.

Another reason for using a good independant garage - I doubt my local fiat dealer would have volunteered to do this repair.

I'm going to Longlife in Surrey on monday to get the exhaust replaced from the cat all the way back, for a quoted price of £299.

My exhaust has snapped just rearwards of the cat and they say that it should be no problem to weld the new section on to it! I was going to get it done at Kwik Fit but I have heard of a cost of £800 for a full system and I think that they could have tried to fleece me for that!

Hopefully all will be well for the MOT on Thursday. It runs out on Thursday so it had better pass!

I'll let everyone know what it sounds like and if it all goes well.

please post us up some pictures im very interested in having a stainless exhaust soon mines looking a bit elderly!! many thanks :D

If I could post pictures I would! Just moved into new flat + new laptop from work etc, if I could find the cable for my camera I would upload pics asap!!

The exhaust is hard to see from normal angles anyway. I asked for a standard note and diesel style tailpipe. I got the tailpipe (although much shorter than before, thus not very easy to see!). The note is slightly louder than before, in a kinda sporty way. Could be just new exhaust sound or the fact that the rear box is about two thirds of the size of the Fiat standard one!

I'm very pleased with the exhaust, not only cheaper than replacing the rear parts with the cat (as they welded to the cat instead) but I have also noticed improved acceleration and mpg as stated on their website! Also seems to attain high speeds more easily and stay there easily.

I would recommend them without hesitation, mainly because it comes with a lifetime guarantee and they wont shaft you for a new cat if it is just the pipe that has corroded.
