Hi, could anyone offer any advice please? About three months ago I bought a 2007 Fiat Doblo 1.9 Multijet. I am a (Rather mature) student and I got this for its space (I have a lot of gear to carry as part of my studies) reliability and economy.

I immediately had the cam belt/water pump changed, all good so far...Two weeks ago I started hearing a loud hissing or whooshing noise when under load, apart from the noise the car was driving fine. I contacted my local mechanic but he couldn't take it for a week. During that week the engine failure light came on and it went into limp mode. He managed to look at it and diagnosed a DPF (Code p2002) I live on the Ile of Wight and could not complete a regen, we only have one suitable road and with traffic...

I bought a DPF which he fitted. I also got him to change the oil and filter, and he said that the antifreeze was way below strength, so I got the correct anti freeze. He carried out the work yesterday (19/10) and cleared the fault, the car is running great but I still have the original noise. I blew my budget on buying the DPF and fitting kit so am hoping the following issues will not be expensive.

Looking at this forum I think that the noise may be a split or leaking turbo hose? The noise is under acceleration especially under load. If I back off the throttle even a little the noise goes. Can anyone point me in the right direction for this? Is it common? How do I find it?

The second issue is regarding the cooling system. I went to use it this morning, the coldest morning we have had since I bought it, and it just wouldn't warm up. I am used to the temp gauge being at the half way point and just staying there. It took a long time for it to move and barely made it to the quarter mark. If I turned the heater off it climbed slightly, but at idle it dropped to below the quarter.

The heater worked after probably 6 or 7 miles, but it wasn't that hot. I could not be so unlucky as to have a thermostat go could I? Surely that would be too much of a coincidence? Does any one have any ideas. It was the first time I have used the heater.

All he did was to drain the coolant, from the bottom hose I think, and fill with the ready mixed I got from the local motor factor.

If anyone has any ideas I would be immensely grateful. Thank you.

Hi. Welcome to the forum, sure a few people will be able to help if you offer clear symptoms. In this case you hunch that you have a blowing pipe is reasonable. Suggest you have a really good look around the cold engine with a good small lamp, letting the light and your eyes play all angles. It takes a while to learn everything in an engine bay and to notice things properly, a splt might be hard to see, feel might be better, make sure it is cold! There might be an exhaust split, so follow the pipes. It is possible to force regeneration with a cost effective tool called Multiecuscan should you ever need to, no idea how islanders are supposed to regen a diesel in normal driving, you can self manage this but petrol is likely better long term.

Further to my questions earlier, engine temp has been up and down, but the car has been driving nicely, then quite a noticeable hesitation and "Engine failure" warning and limp mode. Don't know the code yet.

Has anyone else had similar issue?

Thanks for any help
