Hi,

I'm new to the forum, hoping for help.

I've had a 2004 Doblo van with the 1.3 diesel engine for 2 and a half years. Over the past week or so I've noticed a hesitation whilst accelerating. It seems worse when cold, but it's there when it's warmed up too. It feels like I've backed off the accelerator pedal for a couple of seconds then picks up again. I thought I was moving my foot at first, but I'm convinced now it's the van and not me! It's happening everywhere from about 1500 to 3000 rpm, no particular pattern as far as I can tell.

There seems to be occasional hesitation at a steady speed as well.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this please? I use the van for work (I'm self employed) and I don't really want to lose use of it while a garage tries to work out what's going on. There are no warning lights - I had that last year when the air mass sensor gave up.

Thanks in anticipation of help!

Hi I have the same problem too... I have yet to have it looked at but i now have a Engine fail light come up and the fault is EGR flow problem, so i susspect the egr was sticking and causing hesitaion - i think, its driving fine at the moment with no hesitation but the warning light still on. going in next week!
cheers
Matt

be careful as EGR works in close relation to the AFM and I wouldn't trust code reader results or Fiats examiner for that fact...there are some (long) tests your dealership can carry out to pinpoint the fault, this is the best most accurate way. EGR is bit awkward on the doblo aswell, not as bad as the panda but if the EGR was suspected dont bother cleaning it just renew it.

Thanks very much for the advice.

I guess I'll have to get it booked in for someone who knows (hopefully!) to work out what it needs.

Phil

My panda has the same issue, and I am pretty sure it is the EGR (from what I have read on here). Has done it for 18months because everytime I look at the EGR I remember that I dont have the correct multipivoted arm or right size torx.

Mine seems to be worse when warm though.
