Hi I haven't been on here for a long while. I have a 56 plate Doblo, it has done 45k was bought pre-registered from motorpoint 1 mile on the clock. I knew it only had a 2 year warranty as it had come from Ireland. it was service by the Ayr, Fiat dealer since I got it. It Has had the master cylinder replace. I complained on 4 seperate occasions that I didn't think the gearbox wasn't right, no fault on each occasion. Fiat uk called me to ask if i would do a survey which I did, At this point the vehicle had literallly just went out of warranty. I told Fiat uk that I still wasn't happy with the gearbox as it was crunching in 4th gear and not always going into reverse, apart from that there was a whining noise.
I put it back in as they had stated low a behold syncromesh is away. Outcome was Fiat uk will pay for 90% of the repair to the gearbox but won't pay for the wheel bearing that was causing the whining or pay for the new clucth it needs, they say it needs at 45k cost £174.00 + £108.00 not sure if it includes vat oh and i've to pay another £79+vat for the gearbox.
I have another doblo it never has had a clutch or gearbox problems in 125k I'm sorry I'm a fan of the doblo but a total repair of approximately £1200 at 45k and fiat saying this is a one off. Phone call from dealer that 2nd gear was on back order and four other dealers were waiting for the same parts...it's not right.

...it's not right.

Yes it is!

It absolutely what you expect from Fiat. They've had your money and obviously don't want you to buy another vehicle from them ever again. It has to be the only explanation as to why they treat their customers like 5h1t.

So what your saying is that its out of warranty but Fiat are picking up 90% of the tab......and your complaining?

Or am I missing something here:confused:

I think,.... if you actually look at what I said.... Was that i was unhappy when it was in warranty, that I complained on four seperate occasions and that they never did anything, to add more information i only took it to the one garage in the history of the vehicle. They assured me if there was any problems that they had it logged down and not to worry. On the flip side if this is a normal repair or a gesture of good will, on a very rare fault, why is four other vehicles sitting at the same time with the same fault. Am I expected to fork out this kind of money every 40k miles ? as if it is a normal occurance, it's madness, my other doblo has done 125k hasn't had wheel bearing or any gearbox problems whatsoever, it was the main reason why I bought another one.
Out of nine other vans of all different makes I have had. I only have replaced a clutch once, in a diesel van, in an old transit and never touched a gearbox, it should be highlighted in the mainstream press. Fiat should have put the van fully right while still under warranty..not this sham they have got a lot of their act together.

Bowsy, if they have logged the fault in warranty why do you have to pay 10% of the cost!!!

The clutch is a tricky one as technicaly you have had 45000 of wear and use may be a % of the clutch cost is also down to fiat if the fault of the gearbox caused the shortened life expectancy of the clutch.

As for the wheel bearing if that fault you also logged during the warrenty period then they should honour that cost too.

as this vehicle obviously was never right from day one and failed to meet the criteria under the "sales of goods act"

one would argue though that you should have demanded your dealer to fix the problems under warranty that way you wouldn't be in this pickle now.

I would definately ask for more the fact they have admited liabilty to the tune of 90% is admittance of a major fault, demand they pay it all or take it further. hope it works out for you.

Update from gargae today other wheel bearing away another £108 added to the bill, just a couple of weeks since the manager said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle
