The flexi section of my exhaust failed yesterday evening. I had to wait until this morning in the daylight to investigate which bit of the exhaust had broken. When looking I opened the bonnet and noticed a socket on the gearbox with no wiring going to it. My reversing lamps have not worked for a long time and I wondered if this was the cause. There is lots of wiring loom in that area and I checked it over to find a loose plug. Sure enough, I found a suitable looking plug but the wires were not long enough to reach the socket on the gearbox. The wires went into some ribbed plastic tubing which is split down the middle and taped together. I removed the tape and pulled them out of a section of this tubing. This now gave enough length so I plugged it into the gearbox and tried the reversing lamps, which now work! The harness was repaired after an accident a year or so ago and it must have been done wrongly. I had to fix the horn wiring as soon as I got the car back from the garage but I must have not discovered the reversing lamp problem until a later date, when I failed to associate it with the repair job.
Have others had experiences like this with accident repairs? They also left a dent in the bonnet which they refused to repair, saying it was pre-accident damage. The bonnet had been perfect prior to the accident.

Yep!!! When Mrs O's Dobbin was rear ended when parked, they messed around for weeks to do the repair. I collected it, and it was not until I got home that I realised that the rear parking sensors were not working.
I took it back and all they could say was that they were connected up.
They promised to send a man with a computer round - and failed!
In the end I had them tested on a service and was told they all, needed replacing.
Got authority from the Insurance co, which cost them retail of £53 x 4 for parts, plus an hours labour - about £80 + VAT AFAIR!!

Name & Shame these cowboys!

Anyone nearby could the ring them, ask for a quote for a service and when given a price politley tell them that they won't be getting the business due to their poor customer care.

Revenge, its the only way with some of the scum taking our money for poor work.

I agree. name & shame.
Some years ago, OH had some shoddy repair work done after being rear-ended & shunted into a wall. The repair was a complete bodge job.
Sometime later, I broke down & wanted a towtruck so called the breakdown company. I specifically asked them not to phone this particular garage (knowing these companies used only two garages in this area at that time).
Later on, I got a letter from the breakdown asking why I had specifically requested one garage over the other (even if I had to wait longer). I told them my story & how I didn't trust their diagnostic skills or repair skills.
Never really know if my story swayed them.
