I need to change my front discs and pads. I've seen some on ebay for £28.00 + P&P which seems incredibly cheap (I think the company's called MNC Automotive - they've got quite a few listings). Has anyone had any experience using these pads and discs? If so, are they any good or is it a case of you get what you pay for

I have had 3 set of wipers off them good company great service they also stock Mintex pads and discs but you will need to ring them to get the right size and fit.

I have also checked these out but it is a question of you get what you pay for.

Give them a ring and ask them to qoute you on a set of mintex branded box set. Will be far better !!

If not get them, then keep us all informed, as at that price if any good !!!!!!!!!! can't be bad.:)

Interesting thread. I've been told my pads are quite worn & the discs are lipped (mainly due to the pads being harder these days since they stopped using asbestos).
If £28 is for a complete full set then that is cheap, a real bargain.
Trouble is, shoes, pads and discs isn't an area for scrimping.

The listing says front discs and pads. I haven't the slightest idea how to post a link to the listing, but the listing No. is 270174338687

£28 yes for pads and discs 257mm.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=270174338687&_fvi=1

well to put in perspective shop 4 parts want £ 48.78 for discs ONLY Bendix quality and 39.59 for fiat pads total £ 88.37

Thats heavily discounted as well,

That's what I was thinking.
No idea of costs but last set of pads I bought (and I'm going back maybe 10 years) was around the £15 - £20 mark & I would assume 1 disk alone would be around the £50 mark.
As i said earlier, braking system isn't an area I would want to scrimp.
I've told the seller I'm interested but concerned at the value & could he let me know the manufacturer.

He's just got back to me & told me they are abtex (presumably abtex disc & abtex pad?)
Any info on quality?

Just going through the negs and neuts, seems a lot of wrong pads/discs sent & bad comms when this happens - although the bad f/b is a tiny, tiny percent. The guy is selling shedloads of gear so it is possible one or two slip the net.

only had the 3 sets of wipers from these but received next day had good service as from today 5 negs and 1279 positives(y) this month think its safe to taake a gamble on the service:D its wether the quality abtex is any good . will do a bit of research and see whats what.

I went with tried and trusted in the end (ferrodo pads and brake engineering discs) £78 from my trusted local motor factors that I've used for 30 years. I'll be fitting them at the weekend. I'm trying to find out if the piston's are pushed or wound back in. If they're wound he'll lend me a winding tool for free.
