Hi! Is this the right section where write about a problem? (sorry I'm new...) :eek:

I've a problem with my Croma '06 1.9 Mtj 16v 150cv

Error Light is on (yellow engine light) but car goes good (no recovery status)...only error-light on

I connected my pc to the ecu via OBDII and fiatecuscan software

error is: P2453 Differential pressure sensor error

I deleted the error but when I acelerate over 3000 rpm... it comes back

So I decided to control the differential pressure sensor, and...there's a surprise: as shown in fiat e-learn software for croma, this sensor has to be with two air-tubes inlets for two pipes from DPF...but mine has only one inlet!

sensor e-per code I think could be: 55200301

do you see "2C"? the sensor on my car has got only one of these pipes and no possibilities of any othere entrance...the sensor has only one inlet...

do you know about any other differential pressure sensor that could be in an other place? :confused:

what do you think I've to do?

(no dpf regeneration because the error of the sensor appears the regeneration procedure stops)

no it's not ;)

overboost sensor? maybe you mean APS (absolute pressure sensor) I think: and the sensor on my car appears like that...yes...but....

Looking the image I posted: that's the differential pressure sensor, as i said: the image is from an official e-learn cd

if you don't believe me, the follow one is the image from e-per:

as you can see it's the same sensor

the one on my car is identical, in the same position, but with only one inlet for a pipe that goes under the car.

I think I'll ve to go under my croma to see how is the situation with it and the dpf

I've the suspect that in the past someone changed the original sensor not to have problems with dpf....so it takes pressure not differential but absolute....but it's only an idea...

In any case I checked the error code and it seems poor pressure at high rpm....I explain: when you acelerate, the dpf resists to the air and so you have a higher pressure..and the differential sensor detect it...the problem with my car is that the sensor doesn't detect this higher pressure..the ecu detect this incongruity and so the error light turn on...


so I can have different problems...for example a hole somewhere...or the sensor broken... the mistery is the sensor with one inlet only :confused:

yes i'm getting confused here.

there are 2 types of set up, one has 2 pipes and a later system has 1 pipe to measure DPF pressure.

2b is the sensor as your picture shows, if this error is there all the time check the 1 or 2 pipes that go to the DPF filter. If these are ok and sensor ok then you need to check the filter clogging and oil degredation on Fiat examiner diagnostic equipment.

so exists also a 1 pipe sensor...so that's the one I've got...(y)

filter clogging for examiner is 30% and is classified "normal clogging", oil degradation is 60%

I can't make dpf regeneration because the procedure stops for the differential pressure error.
I mean: I delete error, trying regeneration: when the engine goes to 3500rpm the error light turn on and the procedure stops.

So as you suggest I will check the pipe from the sensor to the DPF...but if it's ok do you know the code for the one pipe sensor?

Fixed mine today. The bigger rubber hose had fallen apart on the topside (hard to see) in the area just before the dpf. Sensor turned out to still be good, but got battered in the diagnostics process so was replaced with a used one from a 2007 Croma. No more fault popping up at highway speeds.
