If you unclip the gear lever gator and pull it out of the way, you should be able to get to it. Have fun

Thanks for the advice.

Pulled the Gator away and I could get hold of it (just). Disconnected from the cable and then - obviously - dropped it into the abyss!

Tried to hook it out again and failed miserably - I couldn't get a decent purchase on it. Even when I did, it was too big to extract through the little gap.

Ended up opening the side carpet to get in, banging my knee big-time whilst doing it - I'm still limping!

Then found that the switch pusheds through the hole upwards and then lost the will to live. One of the little tabs that holds it in place had broken away so no wonder it fell in!

Taking the switch and the car to the dealer later today to see if he can get it back in and make it stay.

I'll let you know how he gets on.

Back to the dealer and their electrics man was much braver than me - popped off the wider gator, fitted it all back together and popped it back in.

Sorted!

I'll be extra gentle in the future.
