Hi folks,
My Croma's boot will open on pressing the remote fob to pop it, but won't open from the external "handle". It's not the settings for the remote fob, I think it's an elec fault with the release button/handle. (have seen a a couple of other mentions of this in older threads)
I believe you can replace the whole piece (including the plastic trim housing for the button), so does anyone know how to remove this from the boot? Thought I'd try a home repair first, then replace if nec.

Cheers!

Rob

I don't know anything about the boot release, but do know that I took the inside of the boot lid off when I fixed the rear wiper motor. I don't know if this gives access to where you want though.

It's easy to get off - just look at it and there are some screws and clips. Remove them all and it falls off.

Failing that, do you have access to eLearn? If not then it's well worth downloading - it has a step-by-step procedure for replacing every part on the thing.

Great stuff - I'll try removing the boot lid internal trim (and will look into that e-Learn lark) (y)

After you remove the inner lining which is as described and easy the handle is screwed in to the rear door with 2 screws which you need to remove to take off. One of mine was badly rusted so basically fell apart when removing, silicone was the answer when came time to put back.

It's reassuring to hear that someone else has rusty screws on theirs.

I took my front bumper off last week, to change the air con condenser. Every screw was like an archaeological relic. I binned all 12 self-tappers around the wheelarch and under the bumper, after having to drill/heat some out, replaced them with M6 stainless steel bolts and washers (with new M6 tapped spire clips to screw them into). They were a bit shiny and visible, so I then carefully painted them with primer then colour-matched touch-up paint. Now it's better than when it was new.

The proper tapped bolts that are used elsewhere on the bumper were also pretty rusty but are special weird ones, so I had to re-use them (after a soak overnight in oil, followed by a wipe and spray of grease).
