Ok so sister wants to be able to subscribe to and download podcasts to her comp but without using itunes. Have triend Juice an open source on but it uses itunes... so no good.

Yea i know she's looking for a way to subscribe (RSS) and auto download new episodes and play will be some obscure ones, dunno what thou.
whats the problem with itunes?

Yea generally puts a whole host of gumff on the comp and runs in the background looking for ipods etc, i have to run it as own an ipod sister doesnt and wants something simpler etc. Also installs quicktime with no choice not too, so you have to then uninstall it after and overrides quick alternative etc.

Nah she's fine with firefox have her well trainned! And will have that installed too as i put it on... However thats fine for tracking new episodes etc, but need something that will track download and be able to play offline.
With wizz, you can select to play but just sends for download and then need to play in other player.
cant you just install itunes

Yea thats what i do on mine but try talking your sister through that at the other end of the country

Yea tried remote assistance and few times and can get it to work no probs with computer literate friends, but not my sister. All the settings are correct.. dunno what she's doing wrong.
There must be some way of doing what i want, am sure i've heard/seen something in a PC mag.
SHe removed windows messenger? Causes no end of problems running remote assist.
Yea she did, though she was uninstalling MSN messenger...
