Annoying me now...

ok my car has started backfiring now

only thing i've done to the engine recently is taking (removed) a hot air feed to induction kit (for some reason had hot and cold air feeds), and now when i cruise at about 40mph in 5th it'll occasionally judder and backfire slightly (very muffled backfire) then pick up, other times its fine

anyone got any ideas what it could be? if its swapping bits over then its cool because i got my spare cinq for bit still :p

*dreads* i presume if i change the ecu i gotta change the master key? and if i gotta change the master key i gotta change all keys and if i change all keys i gotta change locks?

or is it a case of change ecu over with old cinq? (and/or use the old cinq's red key and reprogram current blue keys so locks still same etc?)

You can just swap ECU's straight over - I'm doing it at the moment JUST MAKE SURE YOU DISSCONNECT THE IMMOBILISER FIRST! It's located directly underneath the steering colum, behind fuse box - 'bout the size of a cigarette packet - pull out wires... but obviously this = no immobiliser. But it's ok for cheaking to see if the ECU is at fault.
Hope this helps,
Matt

theres a sensor pipe that goes in where the normal air box would have been, when I put my induction filter on i was told to block this up or i'd have problems with the ECU being confused by it, could be sommuat like that?

other than that give the filter a damn good clean, most filters come with the cleaning sprays these days, halfrauds sell it if u haven't got any tho

as far as im aware was working fine before removing the hot air feed, although was sometimes a bit dodgy on start (kinda not wanting to start, starting then just dying off even though i had foot on floor) then other times starting fine

ya know the injector light, when u start the car never ever give it any revs until that light has gone out, mess's it up so fiat told me, also press the clutch in, release then start it.

if you're induction kit is filthy then you reckon its possible its running too rich, therefore backfiring?

the warm air feed is to stop the throttle body icing up.. not needed

Cinq Sporting - and yes, its broom yellow!

Do not put your foot anywhere near the throttle pedal when starting.

It don't need it

Cheers
