Dropped the engine tonight, split the 'box and removed various ancilliaries. Lots of messing about now painting & cleaning bits and doing odd jobs around the engine bay such as some brake pipes to change & wiring to tidy up.
I am struck how easy it is working around the cinq engine bay - helped by having a fairly small lump in a surprisingly large engine bay. Glad I didn't pick a Mini now!

Got the new engine in today, and 90% piped up. Some small jobs still to do, including changing the fuel pump for a 3bar MPi one.

First observation is that when you kill the engine, it just stops! A combination of high compression and ultra-light flywheel I guess.Just a misfire on no4 to sort (a dodgy injector I suspect) and then I can run the cam in, before getting 500 miles on it. Then the rolling road!

Can ran up and down the road for the first time tonight. Amazing how well it ran for a highly modified 1108 on a 1242 MPi ecu! Tracking is way out so its off to the garage tomorrow, then a 500 mile run out over the weekend.
