Hi,
I have sticking rear shoes so am trying to remove the drum.
I was expecting to see two locator pins/screws that I would need to undo so I can pull the drum off. But there are no locator pins.....
How is the drum staying on?

What do I do?

Please see pictures.
Thanks
Pete

You'll need a deep socket to remove the wheel studs. They're rather tight so make sure you have a good grip on them, once they're off the drum should come off with a tap.

As mr Pickle said. A tip. Pull the handbrake on tight so the drum doesn't rotate. Makes loosening the studs a lot easier.

If that doesn't do the trick. As a last resort you can put a screwdriver through 1 of the small 2 holes to make it stop rotating.

Thanks Mr Pickle and Solidus Snake!
I will need to borrow a deep socket. I think I will struggle to remove the drum as the brake shoes are binding badly. (They've stuck on- held by the handbrake actuator- the cable is loose.)
The annoying thing is they were fine till I took it for an MOT and the tester must have pulled the handbrake so much that it jammed up the mechanism inside. But I guess it needed a good lube/check anyway so they've forced me to do it now.....

Tackling most jobs on a car having the proper decent set of tools is a must.:) Not pointing the finger at anyone in particular but this does seem to be the case with a fair few motorists these days.

Thanks Mr Pickle and Solidus Snake for your help.
It was not so difficult to release the bolts once I had the deep socket.
I sorted out the problem and all is good again.
All the best.
Pete
