I’ve owned 4 Seicentos from 1999 to present and I’ve seen one on eBay that has now left me baffled.
My Seicento is a 2001 facelift (new bumper, ECU, MPi etc) model on a Y plate.
However this Seicento claims to be a 2002???
It’s the same as my old 1998 versions (old shape bumper, orange indicators, large ECU, SPi etc)
I thought 2001 was the date of the facelift?

Am I missing something??

Check out the Dec 2012 paperwork in the listing -it shows a Northern Ireland registration plate JCZ2218. Issued in Belfast between May1999 & late 2004.
Looks decidedly dodgy to me- if it was re-issued with UK plates (sometime after 2012) surely it would have an age related plate.

It has got an age related plate.
DVLA has the car as first registered in July 2002.

Plenty of kids have used NI plates as personal plates, granted mostly "BAZ" and the like, NI plates always look naf to me on a UK car, but some like it!

Either....
1. this car sat on a garage forecourt for two years before being registered with a UK 02 plate, passed it's MOT in July 2006 - 2012. Someone then paid to have its registration changed to a NI plate sometime after July 2012 .... & then paid out again to change its number back to a UK plate before its next MOT in July 2013.
2. something is fishy & that number plate might not belong to that car.

Almost anything is possible but when in doubt i use Occam's Razor as my guide (esp when money is involved).

ive seen this when ive been looking at sei sportings

id say its had a front end bump (crash) and the repairers have just used old second hand parts to fix.

i picked up a 2003 sporting in silver, and as you know it should have big deep facelift bumper.

well the car has the old 98/99/00 front end on it! and not very well fitted or painted, got it for 40e:)

so that maybe the reason why it looks old and is a 2002 car.

couldnt see it on ebay, just looked at the picture that has been put up.

thats a spi engine,right??

if it is my theory is out the window, its a pre-face lift car on a 2002 plate.

but as i said i have seen later cars that have been damaged and people have put on the earlier bumper/lights bonnet off a earlier car.

anyway dont buy it....;)

Yeah, no chance anyway. The front bumpers are not compatible (different bolt hole positions) plus that is the spi ECU.
No chance they changed all the pre-facelift items during a crash repair.
Still odd.

your wrong,as I mentioned in my comment I have a 2003 mpi car with a old 99/00/ front end on it.

its 2003, its a mpi,its the facelift seats and dash.

but it has a early front end on it.

brackets can be made, holes can be drilled .

ive seen it a few times.

anyway the yellow car in question is a spi through and through with a odd plate on it.

That’s kinda what I mean.
I can put a 4wd Quaife gearbox in a Cinq by making a few brackets and drilling some holes.
Without modification, the two bumpers are not compatible. A garage trying to flog an old Cinq are not going to change the ECU and bumper to do it.
We’re going down Silly St suggesting a crash repair here.

not silly street at all,as mentioned I have seen it done. new car older front.

it can be done, has been done, lets move on,again you have lost the battle

anyway as ive said before it looks like it is a spi car with 2002 plates on it.

at the end of the day,no one on here is going to buy it,so why are we bothering to talk about it

"Lost the battle"? Are you 17?! :p
I know it can be done dude!
We're talking about it because it's a rare and unusual point of interest without an obvious answer. Now go make some brackets! ;)
