Technical Ecotek valves, yay or nay

yeah, but what the ecotec does is cause turbulence inside the manifold to mix the air/fuel more efficiently and thus a better burn! Thats why it reduces emissions because theres less unburnt fuel going thru the exhaust.

IMO, it's worth it. £50 for the device and you'll get back the money in petrol savings within about 1-2 months depending on your driving style!

Right, Arc i got one of your foto's from a different post, i've marked the brake vacuum point (little round white plastic part) where the pipe starts from.

Start there and follow the pipe all the way to the manifold (see my pic above). Get the ecotec as close to the inlet manifold as you can. The closer the better. You'll possibly need some rubber hosing (similar to the one that goes to the top of the coolant bottle) to replace the existing vacuum pipe if the ecotec won't fit it.

Hope that helps!

pic doesnt work there brickfoot

im assuming you mean the pipe ive drawn in green here;

and i'm assuming the manifold is split like that inside.

if thats the case, then you should read the email from ecotek regarding it:

Mark

Thanks for your email. A vacuum pipe which is only feeding one cylinder
with the agitated air from the Ecotek is not suitable. The position of the
vacuum line connecting to the inlet manifold must allow all cylinders to be
fed. Feeding just the single cylinder could potential lean off the mixture
too far for that one cylinder.

The only option on your engine, if no other centrally located vacuum pipes
are available, would be to drill and tap the inlet manifold plenum chamber.

your pic looks like a hairy g*sh! the ecotec worked fine but reading that, the only option maybe is to drill and tap the manifold below the throttle body. Bugger.

so.. ecotek + 1108cc FIRE engine is bad then.. wasnt it tested by clubcento and approved..

i cant find anywhere on their site to email.. i'm just a little concerned that if i am in fact right about this, people with ecoteks on these engines should be considering re/moving them

don't suppose any body would have a pic for a dumb ass fitting an ecotek would they? its on a mk2 punto 1.2 8v, pretty sure i know what i'm doing but i can't see a non return valve on the pipe from the servo to the manifold, will i need to clamp it or somethin or is the wrong bit...???

Biggest waste of money there is.
A lot of the members on our Forum say the same.

I had one on my Scirocco but took it off.
I was already getting 42mpg from the Scirocco

So a big no from me.
