Help needed

just got my girl a 97 sporting and having a few probs with a very slight hessitation/missfire when crusing.. have checked the usual plugs n stuff but i found that the two vac pipes that are under the air box are not as they should be.. one has a screw blanking it off and the other is jus hanging about attatched to nothing... so i need to know if this is causing my prob and also where these attatch on to..

cheers

Dave

the one with the screw blocking it off is probably on the back of the throttlebody/ inlet manifold yes? if so then it doesnt matter, you can do that and it wont make a difference.

as for the other one? whats the other end connected to? if its collected to the MAP sensor (metal plate bolted to the top left hand screw of the ECU (silver box on right hand side of engind bay) then it HAS to be connected or the car will run like a turd... It connects to a tube on the inlet manifold (back of the engine underneigh where the airbox goes on) .. the tube is down near where the spark plugs are on the right have side of the engine block.

IF its not that tube then it may just be one of the odd ones from the airbox.. in which case it wont really make a difference if that hole is blocked with a screw and you might have another problem. HT leads?

OH btw. youve put this in the wrong section :) if you scroll down the main page a bit you will find the Cento section! put it in the technical section next time :) A mod other than me will move it soon (y) i cant from here i dont think.

Check the lamba sensor as mine had same problems as yours,i changed the sensor and it seems fine how.At a motor factors you should be looking around £45 for the sensor (fiats about £90)

Sounds like the car has been running an Induction kit at one time, I'll try and hunt down a link to help.

Erm the links I was referring to was about fitting one, ok the brown pipe should be unblocked and puggled in below the grey airfilter housing, the black one plugs into the air feed at the front of the engine, small box between the front of the induction housing, can't miss it.
