Hi Guys

Just finished putting a 1242 p60 engine in my cinq and it struggles to idle when cold.

It does idle once water temp is 50 degrees + but is still a bit low.

I haven't got the rpm gauge woking yet (this evenings project) so can't tell for sure but it feels and sounds like its idling no higher than 750 rpm.

The engine was from a running car where it idled fine, suspecting a sensor rather than messing with tr throttle stop.

Is there anything obvious that might cause this or is it a case of trying to find my diagnostic lead and plugging it in to iaw scan or similar?

When driving today I did also get an engine warming light pop up briefly.

Many thanks

After giving the ecu a while to adjust I still had horrendous over fuelling throughout the rev range and no idle unless water temp was 70 degrees ish.

Was starting to pull my hair out so tried 900 ecu which faired no better.

I swapped the throttle body to the 900 one and was fine, idle good, no over fuelling and performance is improved.

The previous throttle body was bored out to 38mm and looks like a decent job tbh so I have a couple of questions:

1) Do bigger tb cars have to have a different chip (confusing as it ran ok with same ecu in the donor car)?

2) Are cinq 900 throttle bodies smaller than the 1.1 or 1.2 engines?

Thanks for your help

Did you change the whole TB?

If so, I wonder if the air temperature sensor is implicated.

Another issue is that if the wiring to the injector (more or less where it enters the TB) is damaged on the earth side the injector will try to fire more or less continually.

You might try swapping out the engine temperature sensor, too.

Thanks

I was thinking about swapping the sensors about but wanted to discount the whole part to start with.

I had also suspected it may be a sensor. I need the car for a few days but will probably try the 38mm tb with some of the 900 tb sensors when I get chance.

Does that mean the 38mm tb should work fine even with a standard sporting ecu? The donor car was quite badly bodged in some areas so I'm trying to work out what works and what's just a bodge.

Injector wiring is fine. I triple checked it before i put the engine in as I found it was knackered on my old loom.

Thanks again
