Hi all im really  this afternoon, woke up had breakfast as normal, about to get in the shower and me mum shouts me,1 of the cats in the car.goes out to get the cat out to find my passenger window is smashed and my £30 cd player gone (which was going to get changed today) , police will be up shortly as theres a hand print on the top of the door where he/she opened it,question to you guys is how do i go about getting a new window, how much were from, fitting cost etc etc and do i have to claim on my insurance or can i sort it myself as dont wana make a claim

Just go to auto windscreens or summat, tons of places round the country. Dunno how much it is my mate had his back passenger (the triangular/seperated bit you get on some cars) window done in and that cost 81 quid but they are more expensive apparently.

I dont think its worth it goin through insurance, as you will have made a claim, so you will lose you NCB!

May be worth waiting a bit to put the new one in...

Get a new window from a scrappy (cheapest option) (y)

And you would still have to pay an excess even if you were to go through the insurance company. Hope you get it sorted fast and the police catch the little ****ers. Chances are though that the prints wont be on file if they are that stupid plus they wouldnt have nicked a crappy HU.

Hi all, police been used his magic powder but due to it raining last night the prints not detailed enough, rang insurance dont shut till 5 today but the office is closed :( .Autoglass qouted £114 plus fitting

It should say on your policy documents if glass is covered. If it is, there should also be a separate number to call for a glass replacement company.

They'll just want your insurance details and the excess.

i got autoglass and rang em up £114 however i local shop near 2 me has said £65 thats with fitting aswell

..if its on your insurance you may have to pay the £50 excess, this doesn't affect your no claims, and would work out cheaper than going independant. Check on your Certificate of Motor insurance to see if it mentions it at the bottom. I know i'm also covered to get cracks filled (no smutty comments lol ) too, which is free

You see this is why Im in favour of biometric ID cards. Just imagine if they have everyones finger prints on a system. You get broken into, they take the finger prints put it through the system, bingo they know who done it and around to there home to collect your goods, at the same time freezing their bank account, and stopping them leaving the country. (just in case its something major)

Is it me or is this not a damn good idea, I dont understand why the police and government aren't on it. Stupid people. If they just explain it like I have then everyone in the country would support it. Also forget this voluntary crap. Everyone has to get it done. I bet within 5 years this country would have the lowest crime rates in the world.

I guess the major downfall is if these criminals get super clever and start wearing gloves - then were all screwed :) - but then again there is hope i mean they are criminals after all.

The issue of biometrics is this. The current regime under which we live is one that can be trusted, on the whole, over things like civil liberties. Imagine however in 10 years time when a less scrupulous government may have control, a government that finds it in their interests to know where and what people are doing all the time, a government that behaves badly towards the people it is supposed to represent. A government that siezes power and has no mandate to govern from the people. At that point it is not a good idea. And however distant that scenario may seem, it is a possibility.

Meanwhile back to the thread....

Get yourself down the local breakers and get a s/h bit of glass. If you are not sure of how to install it youself get a haynes manual and the morning / day free and give it a go.

Are there any FF members local who can help if needed?? ;)

Ive noticed from his MSN hes got his window done and getting a better CD player Weds, so not all bad news. ;)

As for the cards, they have good and bad points.

Changing the subjects again, has anyone seen the new shopping trolleys that have all of your info stored and shows what clothes will look like on you, what you bought last week, etc on them. What happens with the underwear section  May have its advantages.
