Hiya peeps,
how hard is it to slap a 1242 in a 899 cinq sx?
cheers

yeh thats what i thought mate, humm will have to have a look around :)

There's another thread that was posted a month or two ago, and RallyCinq and Paul Treg covered what would be needed for the swap. IIRC RC has done the 899 to 1242 swap.

I have a complete Sporting for sale at £250 with a good eng/box if that's any use . Ideal for spares . It has lowered springs , drilled discs , 5 alloys with 3 excellent tyres .

Hi Adrian
I probably could get more , but I need the space as soon as possible. (looking for a Punto 60 or 75 to buy for the engine) .However , if I could sell the engine for say £125 , then I would break it . I don't want to break the car first as then I'd probably never sell the engine !!

The story here is that I bought the car just for it's 15" wheels , which are now on my car (not yet shown in pic). I put my 13" wheels on this car , so now it can go .

Firewarrior - a bonus on my engine is that the car's an "M" reg & doesn't have the built in ignition immobiliser - which would make fitment of my engine & loom a bit easier .

I'll be posting some pics over the weekend as the car has a few interesting bits - including corner "splitters" on the front bumper .

This is basically the same conversion im planning with mine now as ive got the same car as Firewarrior, ive worked out a few things so tell me if im wrong on certain parts please.

Off the sporting you need:
Driveshafts
Engine (or 1242 same conversion really)
Gearbox and cables etc (as there different)
The exhaust (although i could do this easily)
The engine mounts as ths sporting engine is more left than central

Now a few things im not certain on

The whole cooling system is the same so wouldnt need changing?

Why do i need to change the wireing loom when i already have the electric windows, rev counter etc and ecu?

The ecu wont need changeing because there the same for sporting and non sporting on the mk2 cinq?

Is the fuel pump, lines and filter etc the same size and doesnt need to be changed?

Can we make this into a sticky as this question gets asked quite a lot like the Rev counter thread

Wayne

p.s any replys appreciated and will help quite a few people although one thing that should always be remembered is checking the insurance

wiring loom needs to change becuase its completly different. the 899cc isnt a fire engine and so wont run off the same wiring. the ECU is again, for the fire engine so probably wont run off the 899cc ecu.
I Dunno...the ECU's are the same (excluding maps), so they will use the same sensing arrangements

Is the brake servo or lines etc in different places etc and are the sporting brakes much better than the sx ones ideally id uprate them to punto gt ones anyway

Also sounds daft but ive got to ask would the Sx door wiring looms plug into the sporting loom same for the boot as well or would i literlally have to strip the doors as well, im taking the dash out if i keep it anyway to spray it so that part of the job aint a problem

And ive been thinking again after reading the above if fiat use the same ecu on the 899 as the sporting would they really bother to make two different wiring looms sure ly that would cost too much, really want to do this conversion just for the thrill factor

All answers greatly appreciated
