hi to all,
after joining the forum and trawling loads of threads i think i know the answer to this but would like confirmation.my daughter has a seicento sporting w reg 1.1..there is a water leak dripping from the front corner of the sump and flywheel cover at the bottom of the engine/gearbox , this gets worse when engine is running(pressure im guessing).does this point to being the infamous gearbox core plug i have read about ??

hi mate, should of mentioned im not very sure of stuff when it comes to mechanics but anyhow, am i right in thinking the thermostat is above the gearbox below the coils?
there is no water traces on the outside of the engine,it appears ti run down in between the flywheel and enginebut cannot see where exactly.

Yep. thermostat is just below coils. Worth a check as its alot easier to change if it is. Chances are it will be coreplug unfortuantely. Worth changing thermostat while coolant is out unless its been done recently as only a few £.

Edit. And if its coreplug it'll be gearbox off job, which may be worth doing clutch at same time. Obviously depends how new everything is, but will save you some work if you plan to keep the car a while.
