Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

I opened the file with winols, I saved it, I reopened it with ecm titanium. I compared the files and it gives me some differences. I have to try the file on the car to know if it has correct checksums ...

I checked your bin and this is different version. So wojs xdf don't fits it.

Your bin has EPROM ERROR flag offset to address FAB5 hex.
Try to set 00 (originally is FF) in this cell.

After this modification Check Engine (injector light) should switch off.
If not there is probably another fault code and I recommend you use IAW Scan2 made by TzOk. You can find this very useful application by uncle google

Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

what's wrong is the cheksum on your file.
As said you can try to put 00 in FAB5 or FAB6.

With the ignition advance that you put, you should enrich a little more so as not to over heat the cylinders.
And if you have function of map F194 and F1A4, I would have liked to know
Thanks

Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

If you want to use an xdf file you have to use the related bin file...

Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

Hi Centos

In the meantime I got rid of the rich condition issue below 2000 rpm: I had to subtract much bigger values in those areas of the fuel main table. There were values of 20 to 40 to be subtracted. When starting my mapping efforts I was too careful to change the map in such big steps. But the little to none success convinced me t go further.

Making a new Lambda measurement system work to get useful results cost me alot of time too. But the Zeitronix system was worth the effort and is reliable and the results can be trusted.

Above 2000 the mixture was too lean according my lambda measurements. Now the mixture is around 13,5 AFR and the engine really starts to perform as expected.

This leads to another question: When the SPI conversion works (final refinements need to be done) I intend to swap to the MPI system as used in the Punto/Palio. Should be worth some more hp since the intake manifold is of much bigger shape.

Can I continue using the 16F ECU or do I need to go for the 8F/18F used by the Punto/Palio 75?

People converting to the P75 used to switch the injectors parallel as the only change in the engine harness and connected the 8F which is compatible. Does the 16F stand the 4 parallel injectors for a long time?

Is there anybody that has tested this?

Best regards

Ernst

It has a 1242 cc engine with Punto 75 head and SPI with 36mm throttle. Together with an open exhaust and widened air intake (original air filter with housing kept) this ran fine with a MCritch Eprom and and fuel pressure adjusted to 1,2 bar.

During the last Winter I installed a CatCams 270 camshaft. This disturbed the balance of the engine as expected: due to the bigger overlap the engine consumed less air in the lower rpm range and subsequently mixture is now much richer AFR 10-11at idle speed of 1000 rpm. The rich condition continues up to 2000. HC value is very high and beyond all limits to meet the required values for street use. With the lambda sensor active this was outside the limits for autocalibration.

Above 2000 at part throttle it went lean and autocalibration eventually worked (afterhaving carried out a reset of the autocalibration) using IAW scan.

To resetthe fuel maps I burned an eprom with the lambda flag deactivated. My intention was to set the part throttle map to anAFR of ~ 13,5 to be slightly richer than 14.7 and near enough to Lambda 1 to make the autocalibration work.

To cure the rich condition I lowered the values in the part throttle map in two steps with lambda measurements to check the efficiency of the measure. Both lowerings showed no effect on the lambda at idle. Still 10-11. Does there maybe exist an idle fuel map or am I missing something? I was re- reading your live mapping thread but got no enlightment so far.

Best regards Ernst

Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

Hello everybody,

Went trough a thread multiple times but it's hard to get a grasp on the thing without actually trying anything.

My first question would be is has anybody tried to run these in Alpha N configuration and how it behaves? I saw a track car running IAW from a Fiat and it worked for racing purposes.

How tunable are these in that sense?

Sorry for newbish questions but I don't have any hands on experience whatsoever with IAW but would prefer to use it if possible.

Regards

Kruno

Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

These IAWs work only in speed density. If you disconnect MAP sensor ecu emulates its value based on TPS. This procedure is done by 4 calibrated tables, but them don't work well if you haven't stock engine

Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

Hello
I come b
ack to give news of my seicento IAW16F 51DE which runs on ethanol for 2 years.
the engine runs perfectly well when warm; I manage to contain the A / C parameters at -1 +1.
Cold or hot start is very good.
nevertheless I encounter a problem which I cannot solve.

indeed in the morning, with a temperature CT lower than 20 , once the engine started on its accelerated idle, and especially once the lambda takes action after a few minutes, when I log, the lambda gradually displays 1, then goes up to a value of around 1.25, then starts a decline to return to 1 and then goes down to around 0.85. At this time, liquid colant is around 35 and the car no longer keeps idling and stalls because much too rich..

I'm desperately trying to stop this.

I tried to modify the map F2A6 (fuel correction CT * MAP): the same.
I tried to play on the map idle stepper position F9F5 (8*1 CT index), and the map idle stepper gain F9FD (8*1 CT index): The same
I found a map F406 8 * 1 indexed on coolant temp but I have no idea for the moment of its function.i don't see any real impact.

I keep looking but if a charitable soul could give me a hand it would be super nice

Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

I do not remember which maps are in the pack and whether you have the required map/parameter in there, but... I for sure remember that IAWs kick in with lambda correction quite soon (when the engine is relatively cold), around 40 degrees C IIRC. With the SPI or batch MPI it always seemed to me too early (it works great on proper sequential MPI cars). I mean the car was still running rich to get smooth idle at these temperatures and then when lambda kicked in the idle always felt wobbly and corrections were always quite high. With Ethanol the added difficulty is that it condenses easier than regular gasoline, and the metal inlet manifold on these cars does not help.

In short, I would try increasing the temperature threshold for the lambda to kick in from the said 40 degrees region to something more like 60. It will eliminate wobbly mixture from lambda corrections, and if it is still not right, fix your coolant enrichment map.

Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

this is exactly my problem; the lambda correction occurs too early and the engine does not run well.

there is not in the pack the intervention temperature factor of the lambda. I'm fighting with IDA Pro to find interesting maps.

Correcting the enrichment card is a little better but the engine does not run well when the lambda in on.

If you still have some memories of the region where is factor is, so that I continue my tests, it would be cool

Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

Has anyone on here tuned a mk1 Punto 1.2 16v ECU? (18FD) How can I read it without the parallel port?
Can be anything done on a NA car to get even a bit more power? It has an exhaust if it makes a diffrence

Re: IAW ECU Live Mapping & Tech Info

Hi pasto,

Did you try lambda sensor LSH-24 from Bosch? This is special kind of sensor dedicated for sport and it is slower than normal sensors. For example this is item no. for Fiat/Lancia - 0258 005 096
I think it could solve a problem...

no I haven't tried. I, thanks to the help of a member, could find the lambda threshold temperature map. I can now modify the warm-up phase as I wish with an external afr.
but I'm still looking for the usefulness of all the maps that I could find by doing tests because there are still many of them whose function I do not know

Nice to read about your achievements with mapping. You are very advanced. I try with decompilers but my knowledge about processor and assembler is not enough for this...
I need to modify dwell - weak spark on high rpm - but I can't find maps for this... Could you give me any advice?
