Hey all !!

I need to replace the lambda sensor on me wee seicento - anybody know I can get one cheap without going to FIAT who ould charge me £44 ??

Also, am I correct in saying that if I replace the mid-pipe/cat section of my exhaust, then the sensor I had to take off and reinstall was the lambda sensor ?? If so, then although my garage says their is a fault with the sensor, do you guys think it is worth checking how tight the sensor is after driving a few hundred miles ???

The problem I am experiencing is that the car starts reluctantly and shudders (as if on 3 cylinders) for a while until it gets up to temperature, then seems OK - oddly enough when I come to a halt after the 5 mile drive home, when idling is seems a bit rough again !!

Any ideas or suggestions from you lovely people out there would make a battle-weary siecento fixer a happy wee laddy !! :bang:

£44 sounds good to me, a genuine bosch one costs about £70 from lambdasensor.com and that means you gotta fit it yourself.

The lambda sensor is located on the exhaust downpipe, take a look from underneath the bumper and there will be a something like a sparkplug but a bit bigger sticking out the the exhaust on the curve with a wire coming out of the back of it.

The symptoms you describe arent what happened when mine went. Initially the injector light came on when i was going down-hill, then the car would lurch quite badly sometimes. The fuel consumption went through the roof too.

If its running rough, have you checked your plugs and leads??

Hey Matt,

thanks for the response....

The car is running, and it has just had a moderate service - new plugs, oil filter, air filter, oil change, tuning and diagnostics etc...

So I have a funny feeling that the sensor may have worked off a bit - I have not noticed a change in fuel consump. but I have not used the car much !!

thanks again

Cento_cursed, welcome to the world of short-ar5e Italian buzz-boxes...

I have a spare sensor which came with a replacement engine - the multiplug was cut off by the muppet who took the engine out but you can have it for £cheap+postage?

The head gasket diagnosis sounds about right too - have you checked this yet?
