Following on from my post about cambelt actually breaking (teeth actually stripped) it turns out the camshaft had seized.

The journal furthest from the pully has had it, looks like its been on a wood turners lathe!

Having turned the engine over and over no oil appeared from the oil way at the front of the head, but the oil pressure light goes out straight away and didn't come on prior to the engine stopping.

Still got to investigate a bit further but still seems very suspect to me that I changed the oil and filter the day before.

Is the 1108 Cinq sporting engine the same as the Sei? Looks like I will be changing the engine as I can't be sure how the mains/big ends are.

Cheers

I think you are right and I think the oil pressure switch is the pump side of the filter.

Are the 1108 Sporting Cinq & Sei engines the same?

Yes, you were right!

Wasn't sure about the posting etiquette. Next time I'll keep it all together as the plot unfolds!

Cheers

Evening all..

Managed to get a complete Seicento Sporting engine today, 45k (thats 30k less than the damaged engine) everything bar the alternator and gearbox with 6 months warranty for £170 delivered.

I'll fit a new cambelt, oil filter and oil (check the top end is lubed!!) and hopefully off we go!

Cheers

Water pump while it is off, clutch and release bearing, maybe have alt bearings replaced?

Noel
P.S. the filter is normally down stream frpm the pressure release valve and the pressure sensor take off.

I looked on here and didn't see anything. I could of got a cheaper one but opted for the engine with the best warranty.

Cheers
