General My first Fiat and a few questions

Only got round to doing this today
Changed the rocker cover gasket and got the airbox clip that was missing. All seems fine. I need to degrease/wash the engine now and see if I am still getting the other leak.
Still no luck tracking down my rear sprayer problem. I assume to see the pipe on the pump, I need to get under the car??

Not great weather for jacking up a car and lying under it in the driveway! Maybe I will get another few dry hours tomorrow

Other than that, the car is going great and I'm having great fun with it :)

Thinking of tackling the brake fluid system next
Any guides on how to bleed the system??
Also, I notice that sometimes the drivers side brakes squeal slightly but if I tip the brake pedal it goes. I'm assuming a bleed of the system might help this, but if not, I'll tackle it later

As for the above connection that I posted back a few posts, nobody said what it is? Is this supposed to be disconnected? Cant see what its for?

Cheers. Will check tomorrow to see if there is one on the other side
Never thought of ECU diagnostic port and a guy told me recently that he couldnt run his diag on my Alfa GTV as it has a "3 connector port" like the Fiats! Hmmm.

Ah cool. So that's that issue sorted
Attacked my roof lining tonight to sort reception on the stereo
All was fine :(
Took stereo out and discovered not 1, not 2, but THREE loose connections!!!
Both the left and right speaker connectors were loose and also the main power connection was loose. Too dark to do anything. Blew fuses trying to work in the dark, but will sort it tomorrow

Cool!

The washer bottle lives inside the wheel arch, behind the wheel arch liner.

You have to disconnect the undertray piece underneath the radiator from the wheel arch liner (it drops down, so you only have to take off the bolt connecting it to the wheel arch) and then undo the 2 or 3 screws holding the liner in place. It drops straight down.

The waher bottle is clamped to the inner arch and the motors and pipes are pressed into it (rubber seals). The pipes are rubber and can perish.. but because they're rubber sometimes they leak and other times they don't.

If your motors don't work, you have to go hunting for second-hand ones as they are not generally available separately from Fiat (need the whole wash bottle) but some after-market ones apparently exist.

The tube coming out of the motor goes directlt to the valve you highlighted.. so not much to check. If water comes out of the motor but doesn't reach the valve, take the tube off and check if it's blocked. A new one will be about £1 though (and is plastic now).

Well finally I decided to look at the washer issue.
Have sorted the rocker cover, fit new stereo, new speakers and a few other bits in the meantime.

Took off the wheel arch liner just now and discovered the problem
About 6" out from the pump, there is a steel pipe inserted into the pipe and bent into an elbow and crimped closed?

Now to see if I can find the pipe going to rear window. I think Ralf that you said it runs across the front of the car? Anybody have any ideas why the rear line would be shut off like this??

Previous owners name on VC5 was 'Bodge'?

The pipe reappears between the tail gate and the car?

<UPDATE>Found pipe had been removed from the pump, the whole way over to joiner near passenger side headlight. Bought 6ft of pipe, connected up and all back together again and running perfect</UPDATE>
