Hi,

I just bought an aftermarket digital water temperature gauge off ebay and its all fitted and looks nice but theres a slight problem. It always reads 25 degrees C and won't go any lower. i tested it againt cold water and it just stayed at 25, however when i heat it, it goes up nicely.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Shannon

Could be like most things in life there is a min and max.. so will only go as low as 25 and up to say 150...

Shouldn't take long at all to get well above 25 though in a cento ;)

The centos have but a switch in the standard sensor location. It's either closed (too late/hot) or open (normal running parameters). So you need to fit the analogue sensor that came with your gauge.

I used a thread adaptor to fit my sensor in place of the standard temp switch (located on the rear face of the head next to spark plug one). Doing so means that you lose your overheat lamp, but your new gauge negates any need for this. Other models of Fiat with the same engines have their sensors placed here and would, in my opinion, give a more accurate indication of temperature where it matters as opposed to fitting one in a pipe away from the engine.

i've recently fitted a temp guage in my missus seicento, i just connected it to the sensor which is screwed into the head and it works fine,

it is however a punto 75 engine, so maybe you could get a sensor from a p75 and fit it into a 1.1 head?

25degrees is standard room temperature so i assume its been calibrated to read that as its minimum. mine starts at 40degrees :)

I was going to use the punto75 temp sensor but when i checked resistance with the switch that came with the temp guage there was a difference in resistance cant remember exactly but knew with using the punto75 temp sensor the guage would under read iirc
