After running down the motorway, the car gets pretty hot, over 90, and its on with the fans and the heater to cool it down.
Now, when the car has run for a while it loses power completely, the windows won't do up and the car battery is dead.
Leave it overnight and its fine again, but the problem has got rapidly worse. What could cause this power failure by overheating problem?

Thanks for reply!

No, it behaves very well in short hops, its just after a long motorway run or sitting in traffic - when its been running a while - that the car starts to complain. I thought it was the alternator but i tested it and its ok, as is the battery.

it has been suggested the fan could be the strange whirring noise and that it could be the cause of the power drain if it is on its last legs. Do you think that could be right?

Many thanks!

The fan in a Cinq only comes on for short bursts of say 5 seconds out of every 20. Do the lecy windows work when the fan isnt on? If so then its likely the fan is drawing all the power. Could be on its last legs or possibly shorting somewhere.

Poss a dodgy earth which doesnt touch properly once warmed up.
