Hi there,

Just got my girlfriend some Sei abarth 14's for her sei sporting (currently on standard 13's).

What precisely is required to fit to a non abarth car. I understand 10mm front spacers from Fiat and a stud and nut arrangement rather than bolts on standard wheels.

Does anyone know the prices of such items ie fiat spacers, nuts and studs, would need wheel locking set too. Just getting an idea of what to budget for.

Thanks in advance.

James

Required to fit nothing more than a stock sporting already has. But to get the offset right 10mm spacers up front & elongated bolts or a stud conversion. The spacers are something like £35 a pair & iirc the studs are £5 each. You'll need nuts which are stupidly expensive so talk to someone like rally design.

The Seicento Abarth/Schumi as standard come with 10mm spacers on front only, therefore replicate what Fiat do. Fiats own spacers are very well made and are about £32 plus you get in 48hours if Fiat dealer close by, aftermarket ones probably about the same in price plus delivery to your door.

Do I need elongated bolts to fit to rear wheels? Or will the standard bolts do the trick?

Would it be much cheaper to buy 10mm longer front bolts rather than the v.expensive nuts/studs etc. I'd prefer that route to be honest.

I Dont mind buyng fiat spacers but will they fit on without the nuts/studs as well.

I'm sorry about all this, but wheels are my weakest area in terms of understanding.

Could the wheels fit on with standard spec or would they fall off! Or is it a case that they would be safe but there is a chance they may rub on something at the front.

Safety first as always with wheels.

yes, the spacers will work with bolts.

yes, you can reuse your bolts on the rear.

yes, you can get 10mm longer bolts for the front.

yes, get the spacers from fiat...not much price difference and a great fit.

longer bolts, 12mmx1.25 is the thread, think normal bolts are 36mm? but best check that.

The disc securing screws will no longer fit on the front, but as they are hubcentric, fitting isn't too hard, just get it all lined up, and if needed, use a bar to help line it up, poking out of the hub/spacer.

You can buy the longer securing screws if you need, they will work with the fiat wheels. On most after market they have to be junked though..its no biggie.

Fit the spacers, don't consider not, you may get rubbing and handling issues.

Get them fitted to yours though, and give the gf your 13" ;)

Cheers,

Kristian

Hmm thanks for that,

She keeps wanting me to have them, but i'd rather she does as my standard alloys seem very close to the arch at the front already (prob to do with heavier engine). Besides see a lot with Abarths so may do something different, not sure yet.

I understand all of that,

Except the bit about the disc securing bolt/spacer issue. So you remove the disc securing screw to stop it fouling the spacer. Then just put the spacer on top of the hub, use a rod or such to line the spacer up with the existing screw(now hole), then put the wheels on and bolt up?

I guess wheel places can get the bolts in that dimension.

Thanks for the explanation.

Yeah, you have a disc securing screw and a disc securing bolt on opposite sides of the disc. They hold the disc onto the hub, and one of the two helps align the wheel when fitting.

The spacer is too wide to reuse the one already there...but you can buy the longer threaded parts from fiat (only a few££) ... or just not bother.

The alignment rod is just to make sure the spacer doesn't spin around when putting the bolts in, and making it a pita. However as they are hubcentric and a tight fit its easy regardless. It's noting like as bad as fitting generic spacers...that WAS a nightmare! :bang:

Right I think, i understand :)

So i'll order the 2 spacers from Fiat.

Then get eight 1.25x12 45mm length bolts for the fronts.

Use existing bolts and locking bolts on the rear.

Thanks for the help.

This is a breakthrough for me as wheels are something I havn't understood in the past.

As in use just normal bolts (theft) or try with a standard locker on front (as in fall out)?

If you on about a standard bolt, it won't even reach the thread.

Theft wise....my wheels are unlocked  Been ok so far, but really after some wobby locking nuts...mcgaurd say they are in development, so hopefully they will last till then.

I ran my 13" sei alloys unlocked for over a year.

Think mcguard

Are they the locking bolts to go for?? as ill soonly be putting me sparco wheels on, £200 of rubber and £200 of refurb....so i dont want them nicked(y)

And jeeez,id sertanly put lockers on your rims mate, they stand out a mile,as will mine, and either arnt cheap wheels

one of..if not the best....nothing is ever 100% though, but should put off pretty much most thief. 2 sets are even better, mchauard and a no name, to make the taks even harder...just don't expect a quick change if you need to :p

I know what you mean though...I have £400 of metal, £260 of rubber, and god know what in spacers, studs and wobbly nuts......and no lockers :(

No, I meant use the mcgards on the back and just leave fronts unlocked.

I like the tiny bit of extra acceleration the 13's give and with a bit of experience and no lead foot, it grips fine on 175/185 rubber.

Suspension is apex susp kit. Meant to lower 40mm to my knowlege. I'm all about go though, not show so prob keep wheels for now.

Alex 22 (hi boost cinq owner) was impressed today with the acceleration when he came for a spin and said it felt quick, so all good :)
